Anyone fish up there much. I dont really fish and a bunch of guys at the station are getting together to fish a small tournament(about 8 boats). We are doing this on the 17th. Any ideas on what to throw or where to go. I have only been to mitchell once in my like about 4 years ago...

My bass club has a tourney there on Saturday. I'll let you know what the winners were doing.

Go in Hatchett Creek. One of you swim a jig and the other flip a tube in the grass.

I fish there every week. i only live about 20 minutes from there. the largemouth had lock jaw last weekend, but we still managed to catch a good limit of spots. If i was you i would go after largemouth in the grass early. (topwater, swimming jigs, brush hog) When the sun get's up go after spots. There are a ton of them. If they are running water pitch a shaky head directly on rock walls on the north half of the lake. They've been biting watermelon with chartreuse dye. good luck.

Brutal.....

My buddy won the event throwing Zoom Horny Toads in the shade up in Hatchett Creek. I don't know what anyone else did. There were (3) decent sized tournies going out of Higgins this weekend. The biggest bag weighed was around 12 lbs. Our club tourney was won with 9 lbs.

Update: Several SMALL limits were caught throwing either swim jigs or spinnerbaits in the grass early. The key was to kill the bait at the edge of the grass. None of those limits weighed over 6 lbs and they were all caught EARLY.

Well..... How did you do?

the morning bite on mitchell may be tough, but they've been catching them really well in the afternoon tournaments. i fish with a guy a couple times a week in wildcats on lay and mitchell. we had 6lbs. in a 3 fish tournament monday night on lay. we thought we might get a check, but we weren't even close. the winner had 3 fish and nearly 11lbs. last thursday on mitchell my partner fished with another guy, and they won with 10.88. they had to spots 4.88, and 4.00. If you havent fished these lakes late in the afternoon until after dark you are missing out.

9.6 won,, two boats tied with this weight. We didnt do all that well. Had alot of fun. The guy i was fishing with had just started fishing himself so it made for a long day. We are going to fish another one on jordan at night in the middle of june. Having alot of fun doing it so i figured i would try again
