My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

I think that doe killing statewide should be banned except for farmers to get permits for does due to crop damage. I hunted Sumpter county years ago. There was a tremendous amount of deer. We didn't kill does and there were plenty of deer every year. I never saw an unhealthy or skinny deer. This talk of needing to remove does is BS!

Yeah, great idea. Let's not shoot any when we can eat them. Let's shoot them and let them rot.

My personal opinion on crop damage tags is that the farmer does not have rights to the tags unless they are already allowing hunters the opportunity to assist in thinning the herd. A couple around hear won't lease or allow permit hunting yet obtains several dozen crop damage permits each year. That's BS.

I don't know what the answer is, but I know to paint the entire state with a single brush stroke, with regards to how the law is written, isn't the answer. Some areas need to keep killing does daily and some need to nearly do away with a doe season all together. What amazes me is the people that see zero deer, complain that they don't have deer, but will then shoot the first 60 lbs doe they see just to get one under their belt. You can't have it both ways. If you aren't seeing anything and think you have no deer, the best way NOT to kill them out even worse is don't shoot them. Period.

So you know what the whole state needs? And only kill does by crop depredation permits . You can't be serious.

I should have known better than to start this thread slap .

I agree 100%. Everyone always says the deer belong to the people not the property owner. If they want a crop damage permit then there should be some minimum requirements on making an effort to reduce them during deer season. If those deer belong to "me", "Joe Taxpayer", then I have a problem with them being treated that way.

There's plenty of farmers that will tell the State they better come get their deer off his property. I heard two this afternoon say they wish there wasn't any, and one of them hunts. You can't make a landowner allow hunting.

Yeah yeah deer belong to the tax payer until one runs out in traffic. Then you don't hear Joe public offering to open his wallet. Joe public don't want to pay for 20 acres of soybeans either, but they'll damn sure demand to hunt property they don't own. Go figure.

I agree with you on this aspect of deer hunting. smile Do you know if landowners have to report their kills or track them in anyway to know how many antlerless deer are being killed each year? Seems like this would be a good number to know as folks consider antlerless kill limits during deer season.

I never said they should be forced to allow hunting or hunters should be able to demand access. Not really right of a farmer to complain though if he isn't trying to make an effort during deer season.

Ford f 150 I didn't mean to be an azz hat. We just have neighbors that shoot every 2 year old buck they can. They refuse to shoot a doe but have to have deer meat. We shoot all the does we can and let the young bucks walk. Trying to make a living and grow quality bucks. It ain't easy with all these flat billed hat wearin bedazzled jean lovin starting to deer hunt. I wish country would stop being cool again. We had to replant one field three times this year and still lost it so next summer is gonna be ugly.

It's all good brother. I've got thicker skin than that. You brought up a good point about hitting a deer with a car.

No you can't but they could just quit giving them the permits. Then let the farmers decide whether they want to make a little money by leasing to hunters and let them reduce the deer population or let the deer eat the crops. The decision would be theirs. There should be no such thing as the predation permits.....
