Orange is not gonna stop people that do that kind of stuff.

The only hunter shooting accident I've ever worked was a guy that got shot walking out of the woods after dark with his light on.

If they see orange in the bush you'd hope it would.
If you shoot somebody after dark with them toting a light, or even shoot someone wearing blaze orange, in my opinion that's not an accident and should be prosecuted as such.

It was as much of an accident as folks shooting into bushes.

How do you figure that? I mean 2 wrongs don't make a right. Hunters should never do either if these things but shooting someone who is toting a light?? That is manslaughter in the 1st if not murder outright.

I wear orange year round cause there are to many DAs on this planet. My cruising vest goes on if I have to walk further into the woods than the ditch. I'd rather bump a good deer cause of orange than be dick cheneyed by some redneck cause he thought it was a deer. Your life, your decisions.

Did the shooter say what made him think it was a deer? Did he not see the light?

Whack-N-Stack... really? I almost have to pinch myself to take your seriously.

I'm not even going to talk about a deer's eyes and more rods than cones as compared to a turkey's eyes with more cones than rods.

You're a Darwin Award candidate. And you'll be shot by another Darwin Award candidate.

Merry Christmas

he's still crying because GWs aren't required to wear it when looking for him...

I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

I don't think GW's should have to wear BO. I know that I will not be shooting at movement. Poachers may not have brains but they have cones in their eyes so wearing BO would be counter-productive.

Thanks for your service BhamFred. I know it wasn't easy chasing down POS poachers!

The Yankees from Chicgo that hunt southern Illinois call the above a brush out!

I literally about fell out when he told his buddy he fired into moving brush several times that day but did not kill a deer. Some folks are very inexperienced and do some really stupid things. That alone is enough reason to wear my orange.

Not quite on topic but I nearly shot a guy during turkey season. I shot at a bird (missed) and it took off flying. I took a second hail Mary at it but no luck. A couple seconds after the second shot, a guy stepped around a corner in the tree line and tall grass a few feet from where the opening where the birds were. Wearing dull earth tone clothes, carrying a camera and tripod over his shoulder. He said the first shot only missed him by a couple of feet and he hit the deck, said the second shot sailed right over him and if he'd still been standing when I made the second shot it would've been even closer. He said he saw the birds take off after the second shot and knew I at least wasn't shooting at him on purpose.

Apparently he was out trying to get pictures of deer and turkeys....I calmly and rationally explained how sneaking around on public land during the middle of a season was a bad idea and wearing earth tone dull clothes was even worse. Judging by the total lack of color in his face after the incident, I think he understood.

Weren't you sneaking around while wearing earth tone colors, as well?

You have to wear it because those of whose job it is to drag your dumb azz out of the woods and then notify your family get real annoyed when you dont.

I think it shouldn't be required on private property.

BTW, wonder what the stats are on shooting accidents before it was required V. now. I guess there wasn't interwebs , instant news, social media but I don't remember as many shooting accidents as we have now. More untrained " sound shooters" and interweb to get the news out now I suppose.

"Why do you ask"?

Too many people spend money they don't have , on things they don't need, to impress people they don't know.
