You could drop the shot charge if you wanted but you still have to add the felt, cork, and Mylar wrap by hand. No point in using a press just to crimp it. If you could get a correct charge bar for it you could, but a 2 oz charge bar for lead, or steel, won't work with tss. And for anything besides 20 and 12 gauge it makes since to roll crimp, but for 20 and 12 you can get a Lee load all for probably around the $50 mark with both gauge sets and crimp any size 12 or 20 ga. You can make. So it really doesn't make sense to me to roll crimp 12 or 20.

Even if you weigh the charges still using a press is much more efficient. However Rockhound's advice is solid and still a better option than roll crimps.
Here is a question for someone who knows what they are doing....
Universal Charge Bar. Why won't that work?
an 1.5oz charge of TSS in 20 would be 1.78" without fillers.
In 12ga you could do something like a wad CSD 7/8 and get about 1.9 oz of TSS.

Kinda like you did on the "Sourwood" tree that you didnt have a clue about....you're flapping your gums about something you have no experience with once again. That loader aint gonna help a lick at placing mylar wraps and spacers in the shell (not to mention the nightmare of trying to evenly distribute buffer). The using the loader to star crimp MIGHT have a little bit of merit if one is looking to not go further on sealing his shells for wet weather performance, but if he has any sense and plans to turkey hunt in inclimate weather....he will seal up his crimps with something more than a simple crimp regardless of the chosen crimp method. Experience shows that neither method is immune to allowing buffer out and moisture in....especially after banging around in a turkey vest for weeks on end.

A 1.5 oz charge of tss will take up less an inch of space. It's nothing like lead or steel

I agree the loader is useless for anything but crimps, but imo it makes life easier for not much more money

Jughead.... Read #1 under the third bullet point. TSS Website Goatkiller.... Hal has pressure tested his loads with roll crimps that we all use. And none of us ever experienced pressure signs or any kind of gun damage. Not to mention, this group has killed more turkeys than avian pox with roll crimped shells. I appreciate your concern and expertise but having loaded thousands and thousands of dove shells on a progressive loader (and still having access to those loaders whenever I get ready) and having loaded several hundred TSS shells by hand and roll crimping on a small drill press....I'll stick with what experience has shown is just fine.

Glad to see you are starting to come around.
I've loaded, lead, steel, hevi, etc. The duck hunting guys use to load this stuff all the time
Thanks.

I have 2 Mec 600jrs one for 12 and one for 20. The only stations that are used in either for loading TSS is the crimping stations. I prefer roll crimping but my Benelli's require a fold crimp because a 3" load roll crimped is to long to cycle.
