There are deer that die of old age in that area that never see a human. Rough country, and very few roads that cut across it. A buck can get down in those deep hollows and live out his life without ever worrying about being shot at.

True! I have a lease about 5 miles south of there and we have over 300' of elevation change. Some hollers you would dang near need rappelling gear to get down in them.

We own 200 acres right about as smack dab in the middle of wcma as you can get. It's up on the mountain and there are deer that never smell a person over there. There are hollars that you would need 300 ft rope and repealing hear to get down. It's a place I don't shoot does cause I ain't draging them up the hollars.

May can work out something. I don't think those fields got planted either. I cleared the roads in early August. Got 7-8 fields we usually plant corn or beans then greenfield.

Killed a buck on some private land in that area about 10 years ago - Yellow Jacket Road I believe - if anyone is familiar.

I had to drag him up a hill to a road in a recent harvest area. The only method that worked was to grab antlers, dig in heels, and fall backwards uphill. Took a long time to go 100 yards like that.

Awesome buck. Gave him the ol' throat judy punch!

Congrats to the ol' timer that has likely put in many, many days of hunting in his career. That's the buck of a lifetime!
