I was pumped up. Got to hunt a small property that has good deer numbers and hasn't been hunted all season. But as per my normal I saw nothing. frown

Stupid me I found the casing where I shot at the buck and it looks like I got the ammo mixed up , I guess I got th clips mixed up with my wife's gun . My sons is sighted in with the Hornady.. I wouldbt think it would make that much difference at 35 yards .. 139 grain american whitetail , versus Remington core loct 140 grain ?

At 35 yards, it wouldn't make a difference shooting/hitting a pie plate kill zone.

There's no way I missed that deer , I've shot three types of 139 140 grain bullets through this thing today and all are within 6 inches out to 200 . I searched out to about 40 yards and found no blood , what's the chances of him not bleeding out that far? It gets thick past that and he could have went 180 degrees . I think I'm going to go look more .

I've had them go a lot farther than 40 yards without bleeding.

My son shot a 150# buck last year broadside at 50yds and he never bled a drop. He ran about 50 yds into a cutover and piled up. I just happened to stumble over him. I don't care for those Whitetail loads. He got the heart. BTW, he shot the exam same setup your shooting.

I shoot federal premium trophy bonded tip out of a 300 win mag and never had a problem with a blood trail. Usually don't have to trail them though.

Was a buck our whole club was hunting and he just came passing through. I was set up on what we call "snipers hill" due to that's where we long range. Only deer I saw the whole morning with a 1600 yard view. Shot em at 120 yards with the 338 lapua and DRT. Let me tell ya it was a mess very impressed with the 300gr Berger.
