One piece of property has a mid December rut and another tract of land about 5 minutes down the road has a mid-late January rut. Pretty good hunting in that area.

My place is just south of the intersection of 22 and 65. We are late rut. The new February days were the best thing to happen to us. Most years they haven't even started rut and the season was over.
What you do today, you have to sleep with tonight.

We have 240 acres closer to Haddock Rd and Sanfort Rd than Hwy 51 and they usually start chasing around now and continue for the next few weeks. The rest of our property is around the CR 22/Walker Rd intersection and chasing usually peaks around mid-late January

Right at the cell tower. Rut starts around Christmas. Our other track is back toward 51 closer to Foster dirt road. That property has a late Jan early Feb rut.

Well, that's very different from the club I hunted at Fort Mitchell. Rutting was wide open at the opening of gun season. We actually bordered Fort Benning, so we had deer that were rutting like they thought they were in Ga.

All of our land is between your two tracts. The rut never seems to hit as hard as other places i have hunted, but it is nice to have two distinct chasing phases...one on each piece of property

And some of those genetics have probably migrated over our way. Ive seen bachelor groups split up, bucks necks swole up, and chasing does in October a few times over the past few years. Its rare but it makes sense with being that close to the GA line

It is over down there for them now. I know on our place closer to 51 the last 2 weeks of January are really intense.

We have tracks on the roads but hardly ever see any. Pretty sure we've got a big wild dog running around for the couple of years. See his tracks occasionally. He's got a huge track.

I hunted a lease in Russell County early 2000's. Rut on that lease was end of October. Weirdest thing to comprehend because everywhere I had hunted up until that point and since the rut was in January or later.

No doubt about it. They don't get the extended season over there.

I got a question for both dBmv and jdfarm, how is yall's coyote situation? We have killed 5 this season, I believe. Hear tons of them and see tracks all the time. Definitely a healthy population of them around. I shot one last season that was trotting down a logging road carrying half of a fawn.
