It's at the processor now. Can't wait for some tasty sausage and burger. I'll try to post some pictures up when I get a chance, although I may get laughed off the forum...

Ready to get back out there next weekend and try to get a good size doe or maybe even a buck if I'm lucky. I caught the sickness!

Congrats buddy! With your bow?

Nah, that would have been cool. I was with a friend and he took me to some land he hunts. I was using his Savage 270. Was about a 100 yard shot. Got it right at the bottom of the lungs/heart.

It was actually funny. We had hunted the same area a few times before without seeing any deer, so we got up from where we were this morning and decided to leave early. We started walking down the mountain quietly towards the trucks and I saw it out of the corner of my eye, but it saw us first and ran off. We crouched down behind a log, and he pulled out a call and did a grunt. I guess it was curious, because about 5 minutes later it poked back out and started coming towards us. Then BAM. Ran about 20 yards and crashed.

Going back to look in the morning shot the rifle and its on . No way I missed that deer. It's tail was in the air though I have no idea what could have haopened. I felt good about the shot I had a steady rest and was Exsoecting deer to be DRT. Slightly quartering towards me . Lined it up to take out front shoulder and exit just behind opposite shoulder .. Not going to sleep good tonight . Congrats on all the kills .

Skunked this afternoon.

The secret to a long marriage is to keep on dating, just as you did before marriage. We have "date night" once a week.
Hers is Saturday, mine is Thursday.

The only time a married woman gives those is if your not married to them!

What did you shoot it with? I've had that happen on really close shots but I was able to watch the deer run and drop.

There's been threads on here of people complaining about those bullets not expanding or coming apart. Please go get you some different bullets.

Congrats to you all and thanks for posting!

Bucks and does...kudos to all!

And Matt, sounds like you picked the right spot and ran into the right doe!
Sounds like a lot of bucks behind her!
And theres nothing like killing a good one on your own ground after lots of hard work!

I have flat out missed deer within bow range with my rifle. Easy to do. When you shoot it, shoot at a close distance once you make sure it is on.

Great buck and good looking dog Matt!

Congrats to the other hunters, especially those getting their first one of the season or ever!
