Looks like its going to rain here all day. May throw a few DP's out but i'm going to let the ground dry some before I bury any steel.

Hummm! Well I've had it b-b-qed, baked and made into hash. It has a unique taste. Taste like coon. Lol!

Most of my customers that buy coons are black folks.

There are some folks up here that will pay $8 for an undressed coon. Gonna try and make a little bit for my troubles.

Hank, you didn't go to the trapping seminar at Bullpen?
I wanted to, but dang work got in the way.

I would've liked to have gone but I'm at work today also! JP was going as a guide. I dyed and waxed his boys traps this week and we're going to set them Monday afternoon.

Well..... Today should be the first run of the season but I'm stuck at work another day. The weather really isn't helping any but hopefully it'll start to cool off some.

I'm going to set out about 2 dozen this afternoon. Since 40 is slacking, I'll have to start the season out for him and get the first catch pics. grin

Me and my oldest son set our first DP ever last night beside our driveway under a persimmon tree that coons and coyotes have been eating under. We got our first catch too. He didn't know what it was. He guessed dog and cat.

Nothing like having the kids involved.

My only contribution for today.

I've got 6 sets made here in my fields and we're going to go set a few coon traps soon as my grand son wakes up from his nap.

Well we just set 8 dps and as soon as my neighbors son gets out of school I'm going down to help him set his 3 steel traps. That'll give us 9 steel traps, 8 dps and 2 live traps out for the night. Depending on how bad my night is at work Amanda and I may set more tomorrow.

Nice job guys. Hank, did you make the live trap in the last pic or what kind is it? Too much rain for me to get out this weekend but I will put out a few later this week.

No that's one of Mr. Kirk DeKalb's traps. You can see them at advancedtrap.com. I met him in Montgomery last year at the ATPCA meeting and he is a super nice guy with many years trapping experience. Anybody that catches 600+ beaver a year knows how to trap!

I got my traps set out and just got back. Put out 10 coyote sets, 4 coon sets, and found a slide where otters are going into a pond, so set 2 #3's at the edge of the pond.

I was going to set more, but the rain has some of the trails pretty bad, so I'm going to wait before setting the rest.
Hope to have some pics to post tomorrow.

Glad you got them out Kevin. Looks like the weather is going to be nice all week and hopefully the cooler temps will have the critters moving.
