I'm convinced that they took the capital from the cooler pre-orders to get in the Tumbler market & now need Tumbler sales to fulfill the cooler orders. Kind of like a contractor who uses draws on one project to buy materials for the next.

A buddy of mine had his at a party Saturday. I couldn't tell the difference in it and my Yeti. I actually like the little lip for your fingers to lift the lid on the the RTIC.

A buddy of mine had his at a party Saturday. I couldn't tell the difference in it and my Yeti. I actually like the little lip for your fingers to lift the lid on the the RTIC. I am not so much concerned with how much it looks like yeti, but how long it holds ice. Did your buddy say anything about how it had been doing?

I pre-ordered in July, paid in August with a ship date of 11/22, which was on a Sunday, they delayed shipment until Dec. 5th, then on Dec. 1st it was delayed again until Jan. 2nd. Needless to say I canceled my order and they refunded my money within 2 days.

Just called on my order. Delayed again till Jan 1st. They claim they had an issue in customs that they found out after they sent me my "shipping soon" email. I started to just cancel, and probably should have. At this point I've waited so freaking long that it's just laughable, and I just decided to wait it out another 3 weeks or whatever it is. I'll cancel at the next blip in the process.
I don't really know what to think about this outfit. Part of me thinks they are playing off our goodwill and are not operating in good faith. But, if that's the case they have certainly orchestrated an elaborate ruse. I think they have a good idea, they are just making very poor decisions with communication to their customers, and are inexperienced at navigating foreign manufacturing/delivery. I wouldn't be suppeised if things are running fine there in 6 months, but they have certainly sacrificed credibility to get their process going.

Taking money in July and shipping the product in January is just piss poor business, unless they were up front about a 6 month lead time which they were not. I do hope you all get your coolers soon though and are pleased w' the product.

Believe it or not, I just got an email saying "shipped". Maybe the squeaky wheel gets the grease. I will report in once I receive this legendary cooler. I need to just about take one of those weird unboxing videos on YouTube.
I'll just be glad to sling a couple hindquarters in this thing and move on!

ws. I've always felt YETI was gouging the public ... I just can not fathom that it takes that much money to make a cooler. It's not gouging. It's making money off people who will pay $350 or more for a cooler when they could get something less expensive that will work. The first time Terminator came out with the titanium spinnerbait it was, I believe, priced at $9.99 or $10.99. Fishermen freaked out. TEN BUCKS for a spinnerbait? NO WAY!!! Terminator was based in Oklahoma, got some old pro anglers to promote the baits, spent a bunch of marketing, had some nice designs on their packaging, made some deals to get good placement in stores, spent money on advertising, took media folks fishing for stories and TV shows, did all the right things with marketing and promotion ... and the anglers bought 'em. Terminator still is in business and their founder did pretty well with the company. Now, some will say "Ha, I ain't paying 10 bucks for a spinnerbait!" and yet they did. Other companies saw this and went "Holy crap, we could do this, too." and started increasing prices on jigs, crankbaits, spinnerbaits and such. Part of it was the increase in petroleum costs (production) and part of it was because the market -- the anglers with money -- would buy them WILLINGLY at those prices. Just like with boats ... $60,000 for a bass boat? SIXTY THOUSAND for a bass boat or Deep-V hull Lund? And yet they buy them. Along with $350 rods, $2,000 sonar units and on and on. Companies will price goods at what the market will pay. It doesn't matter about the cost of production for a Yeti cooler or Coca-Cola soda. If it costs $100 to make a cooler or 82 cents for a soda, they can charge $350 or $1.50 and get it. Did y'all get some KY or Vaseline with your cooler pre-orders?

Perhaps gouging was not the correct term. All I'll say is when you operate with such large margins, for so long, it leaves a high motivation for others to enter the market and undercut you. It's the risk YETI runs by their business model .... making something out of plastic ain't rocket science, so eventually they not be able to command those margins for the product. Others entering the market on what's nearly a commodity product is just capitalism at work. Obviously I'm highly disappointed in RTICs performance at managing their market entry. Hopefully I'll be done with the ordeal soon.

I just received my 65 qt RTIC. Looks pretty nice. It's huge. I'm taking pictures and will write up my thoughts tonight once I have time to sit down and think through it. So far, thumbs up.

Look what finally rolled in when I came home:  We are all obviously disappointed to various extents over RTIC's attempt at entering this cooler market. I will keep this review confined to the technical aspects, as non-bias as possible. Overall, the cooler meets my expectations for the $$. It's sturdy, giant, feels well made, and generally looks good. Basically a close Yeti copy. Now to the details: Boxed and shipped fine:
