Anyone park on the side of the interstate to get to your hunting spot? There are some spots in the NF that I want to check out and the best access is from I-20. What is the legality of parking on the Interstate ROW?

aside from the legality of it, pretty sure you might get it stripped/stolen/windows bashed there....

Saw someone parked on the side of I-85 in Tuskeegee NF on my way to Auburn Saturday...thought that wasn't a very good idea.

I don't think it is legal, outside of car problems.

What is the legality of parking on the Interstate ROW? Interstate parking is illegal. You might get one of those orange warning stickers too.

I can't see getting in trouble for pulling off to run in the woods and pop a squat. So...I think it'd be similarly easy to get away with pulling over and struggling for several hours to work one up (while watching a holler with a rifle).
Now whether or not your windows will get bashed in while you're gone is another matter.

Get an old drive shaft and lay it under the truck. Everyone will think you are just broke down.

I see it all the time up here on I-59, I-75 and I-24. I can think of one spot they've hunted for 20+ years on I-24 across from the rest area at Wildwood. West bound side.

There are other access points to hunt where you are wanting to. Not worth leaving your truck there in my opinion.

The interstate was built with fencing on the right of way limits. Fallen trees may have it down in places, that's why you you normally see less road kill on them than state highways.

I have had someone drop me off before, brings less attention to a area if a good buck is in the area.

There will probably be a chain link fence ( called a denied access fence) that you will have to climb over to get to the property.

Realize that the right of way is quite a distance wider than the road and shoulder on interstates. It is usually pretty obvious as there is often a fence as pointed out. Parking on the right of way can be a towed vehicle or citation. If you can't get beyond the ROW, don't do it.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

When I do it I go ahead and bust one of my windows out, so my ride appears to have already been ransacked. That way the thieves will just mosey on.

A friend of mine had a kayak rack stolen off his truck while parked on side of interstate and in woods hunting.

I see a guy in greene co do it every year. He parks in the median between the 2 bridges crossing the Tombigbee. He backs his truck down so you can barely see it from the interstate but from the river his truck is in plain sight. I know he crosses private property also to get to the Corps land to hunt. I know because I walked in on him one morning. I too thought that parking there is illegal.

I have a spot that is land locked. Only access is to park on the interstate. I came out of the woods one morning with a state trooper parked behind me. He told me we were good as long as I didn't load my gun till I crossed the chain length fence. He said I just run the risk of getting my car broke into. He said he always try's to keep a watch out for the interstate hunters. Told me good luck and drove off.
Now I don't know if he knew for sure if it's legal or not. Or just didn't care
