When his game plan didn't work on Bama in the first half, he just kept running Fournette and got the same result the entire second half. That's coaching stupidity

Gone at the end of the season. The buyout is gonna be tough for them to deal with. The Tiger Foundation is saying buyout be damned, they'll pay it to get rid of him. I don't know who they are going after but that's a damn risky move financially and administratively.

I had rather have Les than Jimbo, especially if he could get a better DC.

Who would be on your short list brandon? I agree its a mistake to fire a successful coach. It usually doesn't work out the way the fans and administration hope.

I'm happy with Les. A 'real' coach down there would possible make LSU an unstoppable force. A big name would up the recruiting for a year or two and if could change things in the West.
I've heard Jimbo and Brian Kelly.
Been here long enough to go from "bring 'da pain" to " bring 'da pain meds.

I'm a fan of Les so my list would be short and basically unattainable.
1) Saban (hate him with a passion but pull welcome him back with open arms. :)) 2) Meyer 3) Dabo 4) Gundy (don't know why but I really like the guy) 5) Briles
As you can see, probably only a couple of those that would even consider leaving and I don't know that Gundy or Briles are any better than Les. It's almost a 90% failure rate to try to replace a coach that wins 75-80% of his games. Expectations will be to win a NC or compete for one annually. There's likely only 2-3 teams annually that can realistically do that.

At least you're honest! As for Meyer, I'd be hard pressed to leave Ohio for LSU, given the SEC competition level.

If LSU doesn't have to play bama again in the 2011 championship he has 2 titles and this is even a discussion.

Chip Kelley might leave the NFL That's a name I would probably put on my list that I hadn't thought of. I'd love to see what he could do with Harris, Fournette, Dural and Dupree next year. I agree SW. You fire Les, you better have someone lined up to do more than just win 10 games a year. You're talking ELITE coaches when you get into that range.

Les & Richt could just swap jobs.

The problem with Les Miles and Mark Richt is Nick Saban. Because of Saban, the fan base and boosters of all the upper echelon schools in the SEC believe that they all should be competing for the National Championship every year and when they don't the fans and the boosters get restless.
Right now what Bama has going on is the perfect storm of college football. A traditional powerhouse school [where marginal coaches like Mike Dumbose, Bill Curry, Dennis Franchione, and Mike Shula can get 10 wins...] combined with an extremely detailed head coach, who knows how to evaluate talent, recruit like a madman, hire the right staff, work harder than any of his peers and is simply and excellent football coach.
Put Saban at Kentucky and it wouldn't be the same result. Put Les Miles or Mark Richt at Bama and it wouldn't be the same result either. Put Saban at LSU, Tennessee, Florida, Georgia and it would be the same result...
So basically the way I see it Saban has ruined the SEC for the other coaches, because unless the fans and the boosters perceive them competing with Saban every single year then they are dissapointed and want a change. Same goes for whoever replaces Saban... It will be a tough row to hoe.
