So if Saban had never left and LSU was what Bama is today, you'd love him right? Absolutely...as a coach. I think he is pretty pathetic as a person. I don't like arrogance, and he has plenty of it.

The problem with Les Miles and Mark Richt is Nick Saban. Because of Saban, the fan base and boosters of all the upper echelon schools in the SEC believe that they all should be competing for the National Championship every year and when they don't the fans and the boosters get restless.
Nailed it.

LSU would be crazy to fire Miles. Stranger things have happened..
from online this morning..
Everything that Les Miles does from here on out will be put under a microscope, as speculation runs rampant through the media and LSU fan base.
Les Miles is expected to have a "special meeting" with his players Monday afternoon, according to team sources (this is an update from an earlier report noting it would happen in the morning). While the extent of the meeting is not known, there is growing concern on the LSU team that they may be losing their coach in the near future.
After Saturday's loss to Ole Miss, Miles told reporters that he was going to address the team about the increasing chatter concerning his future in Baton Rouge. "It's going to be in the paper. I might as well explain it to them," Miles said. This "special meeting" could be just that; Miles addressing the team about the multiple media reports stating his job is in jeopardy.
But then again, there could be more to it. As stated earlier, everything he does from here on out will be dissected by fans and media alike.

I would be willing to swap Richt for Miles for a couple of years and see how that worked out. Even though, I really dislike Miles, but we are desperate in Athens.

The people at LSU are idiots if they fire Les. He has something like a 103-29 record at LSU with one National Championship. If he is fired they will lose several players of their very highly rated 2016 recruiting class and they will end up paying 17 million, plus have to get another coach and pay him. IDIOTS

I would swap Malzhan for Miles in a New York minute. He is a good coach who has the unbelievable bad luck to be coaching in the same division as Saban.
Without Saban at Bama he'd have two titles by now (at least).
He is a good coach but IMHO he's also a good man. The deal just before the NC game he won sealed the deal for me.
Herbstreit "broke" the story about Miles to Michigan BEFORE the game and asked him straight out about it.
Coach Miles didn't dodge the question, nor did he LIE!
You know what I mean by lie, he didn't say "I guess I gotta say it, I'm not gonna be the Alabama coach". He COULD have, then gone on and left to go home to his dream job and listened to the same accusations of duplicity Saban has pointedly ignored ever since. It would have been easy to do, the precedent was set. It was his dream job.
He didn't take it though. He manned up, and told his players and fans and everyone watching on tv he was staying.
THEN HE DID JUST THAT. He lived up to his word. I will always respect him for that. I'll tell you one more thing. You know damn well he recruits thugs like everybody else does. I suspect there's a literally endless supply to choose from down there. Don't hear a whole lot about criminal activity down there though (Honey Badger notwithstanding, I'm sure there are/were others).

I lost a lot of respect for Herbstreit in that deal too. As a OSU alum he didn't want Les at Michigan competing with OSU year in and year out. He used his position to try to help out his alma mater.
I understand WHY he did it, I just think it was shitty ethically. He wouldn't have asked Jim Tressel or Urban Meyer (or any OSU coach) the same questions at the same time frame (immediately before the game, when it was guaranteed to be a distraction to the LSU team and therefor FORCING Les to deal with it with his players ahead of game time).

He can't beat Saban so I can't say I would want him at AU. But then again who would that be? Not many can don't appear

If they fire Les he will have the choice of several good job offers. S. Carolina, FSU, Texas, and a bunch more won't find a better coach than Les, and there are other jobs that will be open in the musical chair coaching carnival.

I have a healthy respect for LSU due to the fierce rivalry they've had with Bama in recent years. If they run Les off though then to hell with LSU, I hope they lose every game they ever play. I bet Ole Miss will be happy to step up and take their spot when LSU slides back into irrelevance.

FSU? I must have missed something. Jimbo leaving? Please lord let this happen. Please. As much whining as Jimbo has done about the SEC the past two season, please please please let him take a job in the SEC West.

If my uncle was alive today he would be raising all kinds of hell with this stupid idea of firing Les Miles. I know he would do all he could to keep this from happening by any means necessary. It just don't make any sense. And if they do it will set the program back to the Gerry DiNardo days.

Les just needs to get the right kid at QB and someone with a little imagination and the ability to mold the offense around that kids skills calling the plays. Everything else in the program is fine.

Miles has lost 5 in a row to Alabama and the LSU BOT can't take it. This is a very bad move, and I think Miles gets a job offer in a hurry. If I'm Nebraska I fire Riley and hire Miles; be a good fit. I'm not a big fan but of his or LSU but he has the #1 recruiting class in the nation and they are wanting to fire him? He has a great W-L record and they want to fire him? It is just nuts.

That #1 recruiting class is already starting to come apart at the seams. Their big QB recruit decommitted yesterday and will likely go to UF now.

Seems like the only fans wanting LSU to keep Miles are Bama, Ole Miss, Auburn, other SEC fans. I don't blame them, he's been real good to them.
