The cheapest I could find insurance anywhere was 350 ish a month with a 6500 deductible That's about right but as long as you have insurance they will do any test needed and bill you for whatever insurance does not pay. $6500 is a lot of money but you can get set up on a payment plan. It's better than nothing and will keep you out of bankruptcy and maybe a worse fate. Prayers sent.

Your health is the most important thing and you have a lot of people praying everything is OK. What bill said is correct. I had a CT scan done 5 years ago with insurance and they sent me a bill for $1500. We called the office and asked them if we could work out a payment plan. She gave us some options and told me that if I could pay $600 right then that would settle it. I paid it and got a statemtnin the mail saying we were paid in full.

Without your health, virtually nothing else matters. You can't work or play if you're incapacitated. If you'll take care of yourself the resulting bills can be worked out later. You can do irreparable damage to yourself by ignoring things like this.
Good luck. We are all praying for you. Keep us posted please.

A couple of lessons for you young people on here that I bet Beadlescomb wishes he had known:
1. If you think you are having a catastrophic medical event, go to the ER. They will treat you and if you don't have insurance they will send you a bill. If you are honest, the hospital will then work out a payment plan with you. If you are dishonest, just ignore it like about half of the ER patients do and the rest of us will eventually pay it off for you. Of course this will put you in the bad credick category in the Burhead Jones commercial though.
2. You are never young enough to not need health insurance. If you can get it through a job, take that over a job with slightly higher pay. When it is needed, the insurance is gold.
Beadlescomb, I hope you are well and the abnormality is just an old concussion, which apparently looks similar on a CT scan, it confused the docs in my situation for a bit. Please do not think this post was aimed at you, but was aimed at all the young guys on here, that may find themselves in a similar situation one day. If it sounded like I was chastising you, I apologize, that was not my intent. Prayers for your situation. I'm praying the OP is getting better! Jawbone, you said what I was thinking. Health insurance is something that you CANNOT afford not to have. Young folks listen up. It's a gamble like any other insurance. And it sucks to pay for it but how I look at it is this way. If I don't have to use my health insurance, then I've had a blessed year. You pay for auto, home, and hell, some folks have their freaking SxS and ATV's insured but don't have health insurance. They spend $200/month on cable and a phone but don't have health insurance. Dr. B

Finding out what the problem is will give you and your family relief. Insurance is almost something you have to have. My doctor's nurse told me she had an emergency appendicitis operation last year and she said the bill was almost $56,000.

Dont be above creating a gofund me video type thing. A whole lot of people request money for foolish things and get it. This is a real need and possibly lifesaving. Praying that God's healing power washes over you.

Not having insurance is killer. I pay around 200 a month through United healthcare. I'm not much older than you. I did buy my plan before the mandate so I don't know of prices would be different now.

Man, if you've paid 1 penny of taxes in your life, don't worry about the insurance. Think about all of the illegal immigrants, and Koreans that go to the ER, then skip town. That , plus , using BCBS Alabama as an example, the Executives have DOUBLED their compensation packages since Obamacare!!! They can't deny you service, and if they send you a bill, send them 2 dollars a month for the rest of your life. I had emergency brain surgery and got a $27,000 dollar bill for things that ''were not '' covered under my insurance and because I was operated on at an out of network hospital. I told BCBS of Georgia they could either write it off or talk to a lawyer because I wasn't paying them a @#$%^^&ing penny. I never heard another word from them. I'm not for government insurance, but I'm also not for what we have now either. If Julio and Enrique can go and skip town, every American should be able to do the same.

Wow Morning Air...that's really terrible that you would be that way. A $27k bill for your life that the folks at the hospital fixed for you is pretty dang cheap. The doctors and nurses went to school for a long time to be able to treat you and fix you up, I bet they have tremendous student loan debt. I bet the engineers who built the hospital also have bills to pay, and the janitors who keep the place clean so you do not get an infection also have bills to pay. And just because you have a problem you think the tax payers should foot the bill.. That is really sh1tty of you. That kind of behavior is just the kind of thing that good, honest, hard working folk complain about. I bet you call people like me racist cause you have a problem with yourself.

I'm not the kind of guy that doesn't pay my bills. I might have to sell my jeep and boat or something to pay them but I'll figure out a way

And I wish I could afford insurance but it's just not in the cards right now. I don't have cable or extras just so I can afford to hunt

If you are that broke then sell the boat, buy obamacare for the meantime, get some schooling so you can get a better job, and keep in mind that you do not have to hunt deer but you can hunt hogs year round. Heck, there was a time in my life that my primary hunting vehicle was a Mazda Protege sedan. I loaded deer into the trunk and taped the back closed with duct-tape.

I'm not a freeloader. I worked my way through college and I work 60 to 80 hours a week and have since I was a teenager, and will until I die. My employer disputed, and BCBSG paid the claim, but BCBSG tried to get ME to pay it. I've seen the doctor several times since my surgery and he's a great guy. The point I was making is NOBODY, NO AMERICAN, that's paid taxes and premiums, should be afraid to go to a doctor because they don't have insurance. I make good money, and I pay very high percentage of it in taxes and premiums, and I have seen first hand immigrants and Koreans go to the ER, then skip to their country and not pay another dime. The healthcare industry and healthcare insurance industry is not hurting for money either way. That's the point I made.

If Julio and Enrique can go and skip town, every American should be able to do the same. The point you made was this: Don't pay the bill because others haven't. That was pretty clear in your post. Even Ray Charles could've figured out that inference.
