I picked that tree because of the wind and the wind was in my favor. I'm sure she couldn't smell me. Now the faws sniffed every single spot I'd set gear down at when I was getting ready to climb and I think that triggered/alerted mamma doe that something was awry  One thing I *always* do is slip into my area & get IMMEDIATELY up the tree; I never sit anything down, and I try not to ever touch a dang thing while getting thru the woods... In fact, I carry my bow on my back just like my gun... A mature nanny doe is wise as hell, and when you have multiple sets of eyes & noses on the scene (even fawns), it's very hard to get away with much of anything...
