Has having kill data made your bucks much bigger or your does more healthy than when you didn't record it?

So am I understanding this correctly ??? Only bucks are required to be registered in the harvest record and enforced by game wardens , and does are voluntary.
I mean I agree it sucks to get a ticket for forgetting, but how else you going to keep up with it . If I got to buy a liscebse in the first place and you going to ticket the guy who forgets to tag his buck .. Just enforce It on both sexes so 99 % of us can get in the habit of keeping tags at all times and get what we are paying for in the first place . A managed herd.
Copied from the DCNR website :
Data collection is an extremely important part of any deer management program and should be the primary item affecting deer management decisions. Data collection allows managers to monitor trends in the deer populations physical condition, deer population numbers, deer harvest numbers, hunter success rates, and many other measures of a deer management program and effectiveness. Not collecting the right types or amounts of deer-related data often adds many unnecessary challenges to an already difficult task. This is true for deer on a small private property or across an entire state.

I have tried for the past 2 years to report my harvest but the web site won't cooperate. This year I got an error message of some kind. Last year it said that my lifetime license number was no good and that I needed to get a new number. It referred me to a phone number that didn't get me anywhere. I will try each time I kill a buck but it has been frustrating to get sent to a dead end with each effort.

What does it matter if you require does too, the DCNR does not require the info be forwarded to Montgomery? Useless, either use it or loose it.

He was on the phone for some time , afterwards he said he still didn't think he got it registered correctly.

But the paper harvest records you are required to fill out isn't utilized by the state for anything other than a way to write a ticket. If at the end of the season you had an address to mail the record in to the state then maybe there would be some kind of useful information for management.

Make it a pre addressed post card format and ya just drop it in the mail after season.

Definitely need a better system , car accident reports alone cabt be giving an accurate assessment . . I guess the wma hunts give a baseline assessment , I guess the antelered harvest data is an attempt to keep people from blasting bucks , but the system is in need of some fixen IMO

I'm still trying to figure out "how" anyone could get an exact number of deer in the State? We still don't have an exact number of illegals in this Country.

They need to be working on a way to eradicate coyotes (impossible) and quit worrying about the exact number of deer in the state. They started this problem and they need to fix it. Cause if they dont fix the yote issue you wont have to worry about a deer population anyway.

I can't honestly answer this question since the land I hunt on has been managed by a biologist for as long as I have hunted it which has been over twenty years. I do know that it is helpful in setting goals for the upcoming years and showing harmful or helpful trends.

I record mine and urge others to do so.
How many of the ones complaining do the same?
My goodness, it only takes a couple of minutes, with no time/date restrictions and is FREE. If you have time to make a post on here griping about it......you have time to enter your kill(s). Then, you can either choose to whine/gripe about others not doing so or it being useless...or something. Because, I swear, some folks are just gonna complain! i've ask many times here , how will this help the health of the herd and how will it help bag limits for the next season. i have yet to get a answer . you right it only takes a few minutes to record the kills . but it aint free !!!! if i remember right it was a couple of million and i'm sure a cost is still running .

They do not send a guy out. We collect weights, we age the jawbones, and we collect observation reports and turn them in. Could imagine if the State asked hunters to do that what kind of bitching would have ensued..... The system is not perfect nor completely what is needed to properly manage the deer herd but it would be one more tool the State could use and since the money has already been spent and it is up and running why not use it...

He analyzes our data and comes out about once year goes over the data and we take a tour of the property looking at the available natural browse and from the data and our observations we come up with a plan for the next season based on our long term goals.

Well one is we have went from a harvest goal of twenty does over the years to just four this year on 1500 acres.

Assuming you have huntable numbers to begin with, 4 off 1500 acres is same as none.
