Anybody had much luck on any of the county lakes? I've recently picked up a pond prowler from my brother and it is perfect for this size lake. I'm really wondering about Lee, Pike, Crenshaw, and maybe Dallas or Bibb.

I caught my largest fish ever in Lee County public lake back when I was in school. It went a little over 10 pounds. I think my pic is still in the little book they keep down there.....
I caught it from the bank on a 5 1/2ft ultralite with 6lb test and a crappie jig. Bunch of crappie in that lake too.
I've been to Bibb County once or twice. I've heard good things, but never did any good.

Madison County Lake east of Huntsville is 105 acres, spring-fed and goes from ankle deep to about 33-feet by the dam.
Every year, usually the second week of April, someone on the bank catches a largemouth weighing between 9 and 11 pounds. There are some very nice bass in the lake, along with crappie, 'gills and catfish.
It's a very nice place to fish.

Cool. Thanks for the info. I fished Lee County last year with my family and caught a few which was a wonder because I spent most of the time fixing my 4 and 8 year old daughters rigs.

Crenshaw County Lake usually has some good fishing. Not so many huge fish, but real good numbers of "big" fish...say, 3-8 lbs. The lady who used to be the lake manager posted on here for awhile, and she and her husband were always a real good source of info about when, where, and what to use. I haven't been up there since they moved a couple years back, but I generally had some pretty good luck there.

I will second that about Crenshaw lake. I have had some good times fishing that lake catching anything from big bluegills to some serious slabs of crappie. My biggest bass so far came from that lake and weighed in at almost 8lbs. I have had some good catches of catfish there as well. I think if you fish there you wont be disappointed.

Oh by the way Greene if you decide to do any crappie fishing at Crenshaw lake you would be better off with jigs instead of live minnows. Strange but that is the way they are down there.
