I dont mind paying more for an item that is made in the USA. The problem is that less and less is being manufactured here now. I am really concerned what would happen if we went to war with China or Russia (or a large scale multiple nation). We dont have the capacity or infrastructure to build much anymore.
The best thing the politicians could do is charge HIGH tariffs on anything produced in other countries. Things would cost more here, but there would be more jobs. And probably less welfare if there was more jobs. But that will never happen. Corporations want to be able to sell cheap stuff for high margins. And both the republicans and democrats want to keep people on assistance, so they can keep getting elected.
