I'm not a big fan of the police in general - in my experience they have mostly been power hungry and overbearing. I am a law-abiding citizen and have only dealt with police when they have pulled me over a few times (driving over speed limit). I understand one may need them at some point in life but all I see is traffic cops and state troopers harassing the drivers. I would say the average citizen probably never needs the police for anything in their lifetime.

Also, our fire department does the same thing every day for lunch here in my town - in the fire engine. About 8 of them go to eat for about an hour and a half then load up in the engine and ride back to the firehouse. I think it's a waste but I mind my own business and carry on.

So you think there's no need to traffic enforcement? God forbid we put someone in jail before their recklessness kills someone. Do you realize the high number of traffic fatalities? Guess what a common factor is in most of them? Someone driving like a moron. If you think traffic enforcement doesn't help I want you to come ride with me for two hours in my truck and observe traffic and then ride two hours in my patrol car and see the difference.


Drew no sense in using logic or common sense. People would be defending their homes from criminals WITHOUT police.

The veneer of civilazation is VERY thin. It is kept in place by the FEAR of repercussions for criminal actions that DETERS the majority of criminal behavior.

One week with no power and you see how quick the veneer actually starts to unravel. Ask the people of New Orleans during Katrina.
