Some departments allow it, but most don't. The ones that do just want their cars to be seen as much as possible, which is smart. I'm gonna bet these guys are getting to use it because it's "training related" Yep. A shooting match will qualify as training. If I were the chief though I would still say taking the family is not kosher. Too much potential for liability. This is as much what I'm talking about as anything. I'm not bashing police officers, I'm simply saying that the vehicles shouldn't be used as family transportation. Obviously there are many that feel differently than I do
