There are two books that I recommend everyone read. THE GIFT OF FEAR, by Gavin de Becker and Deep Survival: Who lives, Who Dies, and Why ,by Laurence Gonzales.
I especially recommend The Gift of Fear, for daughters,wives and girlfriends.
These books explain why that "gut feeling", is trying to tell you something.
Thanks for that. I went on Amazon Prime and it was free for me to borrow to my Kindle. Going to start reading it this week.

I had a similar one late after a game one night when I stopped at the bank's ATM. Suspicious guy was parked when I got there and seemed to be casing the situation. I kept waiting on him to go ahead and use the machine but he just kept watching me. Lil did he know when i finally got out of my truck, the trusty 1911 was under jacket. I never turned my back on him and used the mirror on the machine when I had to look away. He got out of his car as the $ dropped but when I lifted my pullover and put my hand on weapon he made the wisest decision of his life and got back in his car and drove off. I believe he had bad intentions but thought better because of my actions and attentiveness to him. Only time I ever felt I needed it but was glad I had it. My wife and I both have CC permits and always will.
Its not the will to win but the will to prepare to win!

I believe you were spot on in your assesment. That very situation is one reason I carry the sidearm that I do. The hammerless S&W 642 doesn't even have to come out of a coat pocket to start pumping rounds like a semiauto would. No hammer to grab material in the pocket and no slide to pinch material and jam. Sounds awesome, but 5 rounds? I'll take my chances with my 23. aint many folks that can take 5 38's and live to brag about it.

Soon as I get in it's like putting my seatbelt on, it the pocket it goes. Always got the 45 and extra rounds in the dash for extra support if needed.
