Longshot, I know it is not what you were looking for, but I have been really impressed with the savage axis youth in 7-08. You can buy a combo with a cheaper scope for 300 and then upgrade the scope later. Grouped the same as a Browning stainless a bolt mountain rifle.

I ended up reading the whole thread before I posted, which is rare, but I'm glad I did. Now we know who it was.

I did see someone above mention the M77 25-06 that's for sale in the classified section. Unless there's another one on here, that is the rifle that Andrew Morton was selling. I've met Andrew a few times and I'd bet my right cod that he would never stand up someone on a deal. He's a jam up guy.

I have had the pleasure of meeting Andrew Morton myself. He is for sure a man of his word.

I will say that the "Seller" made me a very good price on the combo and was even going to meet me in Montgomery, which would have saved me 3 hrs of drive time. I was very happy with that deal and after speaking on the phone with him I had no reason to doubt him. The only reason we couldn't meet earlier than Thursday was because he had travel plans for both Tues and Weds. I could have and would have went on any day at any time but that was best for him so I waited...... and he sold it. He did offer to sell me a different rifle but my Son doesn't need a 7mag, 25.06 or 270 or 30.06.

I'm not here to defend bhweants but I do know some of the situation. I wouldn't pile on too quickly. Sometimes the situation forces your hand. That is all I'm going to say about it.

Guys I've had quite a few PM about this and I want to thank each one of you for your offers.
I have a rifle that he can use to hunt with so he's not going to miss out.
I'm over this whole deal now. Yes I was upset about disappointing my Son but after talking about it with him, I believe that I was more disappointed than he was.

The last 3 months has been tough on us with me not having a job and I thought that the rifle would make him happy. He told me it really want a big deal. He said he could wait til I got another job
I smiled gave him a hug then had to leave the room.
Sometimes we don't give them enough credit.
God Bless everyone.
Thanks again

I've had nothing but good experiences here, Craigslist and got most part eBay. Hate to hear stuff like this. Bought a tree harness on eBay one time that I thought was complete deal but didn't have tether. It was my fault for not reading description fully. Guys I've met on here have been great.

I can meet you this weekend with a mossburg youth 243 bolt action with a scope that my oldest killed his first deer with. I live in Cleburne County, north of Heflin. $100.00 I have a field trial tomorrow or i could meet you then. It has been collecting dust for a couple of years as he has moved up to a 270 and doesn't shoot it anymore. Before anybody starts on me about the price i've got a soft spot in my heart for kids, that's it! Synthetic stock. My grandaddy and dad taught me that a man's word is all he really has so that is it...

If it will help out I will be in Moody all weekend and I could meet you and bring it back to Hartselle.

Trox and Beagler, posts like that just reassure me why I like this site so much better than any other I'm on. Just an all around good group of guys on here. Sure there's maybe a handful of jackasses but they're greatly outnumbered by the good guys on here
