My experience with buying items advertised by individuals is first to hand over the money gets the item. I've sold lots of stuff and had lots of folks make arrangements to meet me and never show up or call. Just being the devils advocate here.

I will never do business this way.

I was selling some very nice work out equipment 6 months ago on Craigslist for a very good price. My phone instantly started ringing. One guy tried talking me down on the price over the phone and I don't play that. Next was a kid from 2 hours away in Mississippi and said he would take it for the price I had listed. I told him to head this way. After that I had others wanting to buy it out from under him at a higher price. I don't work like that.

Yep. I hate it happened to you and your son. But that's life dealing with folks on the internet. I've had folks swear up and down they want something. And leave me hanging. I don't sell out from under someone who is on their way. And if I do sell something, I atleast let an interested party know. But no time was wasted on either party. But if someone is in front of me with cash, they can have it. I've been burnt WAYYYYYYYYYYY to many times to do otherwise.

Recent screwings....
- I had a &*$^@(&&head from Decatur call me about a Jeep engine I was looking for. The deal was perfect. I could hear it run and drive it. He was going to call me the next morning when he got home. And I was going to drive up and pick itup. Hell, I was even going to help him take it out. Bad part about it was I was going the next morning to Jemison and look at another one. So I called that guy that night and told him what I found. No big deal for him. It was early enough noone lost anything or time on it. Piece of S..from Decatur never called. Wouldn't answer his phone. So I ended up buying the one from Jemison.. Long story on that junk one too. The @#$@#$ from Decatur called me a week later...I told him what he could do.

-I'm selling alot of my Jeep YJ parts since I'm putting a LS engine in it. I posted all the parts I'm not using online. Some POS who thinks his word is gold.. wanted the motor mounts. You know...since your just going to hack them out..I need em. I spent time and effort in getting them out so they could be used. Then the gold worded POS never got with me. Started giving me crap about me not being available and not waiting long enough. Normally, I wouldn't have waited. But he wanted other things and seemed like a good guy. I was available at ANY time and waited on the POS for almost a month. He's probably on Aldeer...if he reads this.....you can KISS my A$$$$.

Nothing you can do about it. I just vent to my wife and let it go. Lots of other guns out there. It may even be a blessing to you. That gun could have been junk and you end up finding a better deal on one.

Had a similar happen to me from a member on here (not sure if he's still on here or not - can't even remember his username). I drove close to 4 hours truck and trailer to pick up a golf cart and got stood up. Then afterwards he laughed about it through phone calls and texts.

If I ever cross paths with him, which I know I won't, I'll whoop his ass real good!

Sorry to hear that man. I've never had one problem with buying/selling anything with Aldeer members. And yes, I've even bought from Trox!

There's a Ruger M77, 25-06 for sale in classified. Check it out. Sorry to hear about your son learning a life lesson so early in his life. It happens. Good luck this hunting season.

Unfortunately it wasn't a newbie. He has been a member on here 9 years.

As an unemployed man I can't afford something like that. I really couldn't afford to buy the other rifle but I knew it was a good gun and a decent price and if I didn't get it now I probably won't be able to come Christmas time. Especially if I still am unemployed.

After being burned many times by buyers this is how I handle selling something. If someone tells me they are on their way I'll tell them straight up I'll hold it till a certain time. If they haven't shown up by then it goes back up for sell. I don't hold anything for more than 1 day without earnest money. I was selling a boat once and had a guy stop by the house, one Sunday, and look at it. He told me he lived about two hours away and was up visiting his daughter. Said he didn't have the cash on him to pay for it but asked if I'd hold it till the next day. I said sure and even took off half a day work to meet him early, at his request, so he didn't have to pull it home in the dark. About an hour after he left an Aldeer member called wanting the boat. I stuck to my word and said the boat was spoken for. Aldeer member understood. The next day, after I got home, the buyer called and said he had a problem at work and asked if we could do the deal the following day. I told him I had already taken 1/2 day but would do so again, once again at his request. The next day I took off half a day and the guy was a no show. Never heard from him again. Called Aldeer member back that had said he wanted it to find out he had purchased a different one the same day he had called me.
