Real log cabin, where you cut the trees yourself or what? How primitive? I've seen some of those pre-built buildings turned into cabins that have turned out real nice.

Look up the book "How to build your dream cabin" by J. Wayne Fears. Has different cabins with supply lists for each. Also goes into detail about different cabin components.
I have a copy but I've loaned it out so many times...I can't find it now.

I really like log cabins but a cypress board cabin is easier and lower maintenance.
Two roads diverged in the woods and I took the one with deep ruts,hills and mud.It may be bumpy but WHAT A RIDE!

NOTE: I'd recommend NOT going to that web address on a work computer. Not because of the content, again, it's 100% G-rated, but because of the address itself. The fact that it has "porn" in the title tends to trigger red flags in your company's IT Dept and they start asking a lot of questions....don't ask how I know

thanks for the pics. Leaning toward 30x24 with loft. Possible log siding or cypress board. cabin will have power and septic tank. propane logs/wall heat, window AC etc. just in planning phase now

If you want to build yourself, with logs cut onsite, etc., get the Foxfire books...priceless information in there from the people who had no other options, back in their day.
