Heard yesterday that a Church of Christ member said that only members of their church would go to Heaven. I am not saying this myself but was wondering if that is their belief? Do not want to start a war just trying to learn.

No we don't. If we did we would be condemning ourselves as we are not to judge people. I would say telling someone that they are going to hell is judging.

What most church of Christ do is try not to add anything to or take away from scripture. Some churches ESP the older members think this. I have left some churches for thinking that way.

The only people going to heaven belong to Christ (any scripturally saved individual) A person is added to Christ's church when they are saved not by any vote of man. So the statement is correct but taken out of context.

I've heard that before and I've personally run into some problems from COC ministers but you can find strange individuals in all denominations.

Depends on what Church of Christ body you are at. Yes, some believe it. And some don't. But that doctrine is in the Church of Christ. Along with salvation through baptism, and the fact they believe you can lose your salvation.

I have been told the same thing from members of the Church of Christ. But, I have had others say that isn't in their doctrine. So, I have never know if it was truly their belief or not.

Having grown up in the CoC (went to a private CoC school kindergarten through High School), some CoC members think they're the only ones who "get it right". And yes, some think they're the only ones that will get to Heaven. But then, there are folks in every denomination that think theirs is the only one that gets it right.

x1000 When I'm asked this question my answer is NO,BUT I ask them why anybody would want to take the chance of doing things contrary to scripture. I like to point out the many warnings given to those that add to or take away from God's word. If you have book, chapter and verse for your belief and practice how could God find fault,I mean that is the Book that will be opened and we all will be judged by. The scripture must not be taken out of context either when making a point.

Imagine that you are given the task of leading your family and friends thru a dangerous land to safety. You are given a detailed map by someone that has made the journey and your told it's certain death if you take any of the wrong trails on the way. Halfway there you come to a fork in the road and their stands a fellow that says taking a left will save you 2 days traveling but the map says take a right. What would you do? Now apply that to Salvation and the safety is eternal life.

I have found that there are people in the Church of Christ that agree with this and other ideas that I believe are wrong. I have also found that there are many, many more CoC members that do not believe this. The few have a tendency to give the many a bad name and often the CoC gets a really bad wrap.

I was a CoC member for 19 years and left when I remarried. My wife was of another denomination and we had to compromise with each other to find one we both wanted. We visited 12 different churches and chose one together that we both wanted to be a part of.

I have NEVER seen a church body other than the CoC that was so committed to service in God's name. I've seen many that talk a good game but the CoC bodies I have been a part of put their words into action ... more so than any other church I have seen. I miss that ...

True in a sense but Grace is extended to all mankind. God owed us nothing but thru his Grace we "might" be saved. If there wasn't conditions then everybody is going to Heaven. My Bible says Straight and narrow is the way and FEW will find eternal life. The first time God destroyed the earth he only found one family worthy of life.

we have to follow the Bible. we cannot make up our own way to salvation because "God's grace will cover us." God's grace does cover us, but only if we follow his commands

Have heard this as long as I've been alive. Always thought it was a bit presumptuous.

I'm just glad that Christ was judged at Calvary on my behalf. Call me crazy but I just happen to believe the "good news"(the Gospel) and that is truly some good news. No worries about any judgment day as I believe and know where my identity is........"In Christ".....as a matter of fact the day I evidence faith in the death, burial and resurrection of Christ I died scripture says and it is no longer I that lives but it is Christ that lives in me. The mystery that was hid from the ages the Apostle Paul said was...."Christ in us the hope of glory"

Therein lies the great majority of the Body of Christ problem Christian folk has a major "Identity problem" They simply do not know who that they are. They still believe that God is angry and can't wait to kick everyone off into hell. They live this fear mongering life instead of an "abundant life" trying to please an angry God and do just enough in hopes to make it. Many an old person will say on their dying death bed "I just hope that I did enough" instead of just living life and resting in the free favor of God's Grace and what Christ accomplished on the Cross. Most live and believe whole heartedly in a "performance based religion" where they have to "do" or not "do" to aid in their salvation and to keep that angry God appeased. The blood of Christ was not enough for them. Do good and get good or do bad and get bad is their mantra and it is repeated over and over again in their lives, their families, their churches, there schools, their work places. All along not know that they are following what Paul would call the "rudiments of the world"

Anyways Glad that Christ handled it all at the Cross and now I can just boldly walk into my Fathers presence and talk to Him and know that I am His child and I have an inheritance and what belonged to Christ belongs to me. I am highly favored and deeply loved.

I'm not looking for an "anti-Christ" I'm looking for the "Christ"

I am the righteousness of God In Christ...2 Corinthians 5:21New King James Version (NKJV)

21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

1 Peter 3:10-12New King James Version (NKJV)
10 For
“He who would love life
And see good days,
Let him refrain his tongue from evil,
And his lips from speaking deceit.

one more.....
Romans 5:17New King James Version (NKJV)

17 For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.

sorry I got started and couldn't quit, lol!

Hope you never have to teach a muslim or jew. You will find yourself in quite an awkward situation. If you don't think someone is in danger why would you bother teaching them in the first place. By simply talking to someone about a sin you are implying they are going to hell.
