Not speaking as a state biologist from here on out... And, I completely agree with you. Now if we did address the zones being too large one day, more than likely it still will not be perfect. The lines of what deer do (rut, populations, etc.) often fall in areas where it would be tough to draw a line on a map and try and get hunters to follow it. Those lines really need to be large roads, rivers or county lines. Again, just my personal opinion not as an employee of the state, I wish there were 5-6 zones similar to how FL and AR does theirs.

Those 10 days are not even close to being as good as the first few days of bow season. Most of us have to hunt with or around other hunters that gun hunt the same property and after that first week of gun season the deer change their patterns big time from hunting pressure. What can we do as bowhunters to try and get it changed?

Make it a Saturday and take away a day on the end. Give people the opportunity to take advantage of their weekends as well as the businesses that benefit from deer hunters. Is this bureaucracy or stupidity or both or do they go hand-in-hand?

First year, if you're caught hunting during the closure, you lose your license for that year and the next with a $2500 fine. Make the penalties so steep and catch just a few people, and 99% of people will quit.
