I know of a guy that has a special spray to prevent all the wondering.

I just don't have it in me to shoot a dog that isn't being aggressive. This guy followed me into one of my stands last year and hung out the ENTIRE afternoon, from about 2pm until dark. he'd wander off periodically chasing squirrels, but never out of sight. I tried to run him off a few times but he wouldn't have any of it. When I finally climbed down, he wanted to play. very friendly. almost took him home with me but I don't need another dog right now.

Its totally up to you what you do. Its a personal choice. Some people shoot dogs some do not. IF YOU choose to shoot them, dont tell anyone. The ONLY way you can get caught is = By tell someone OR get caught dragging the dog off. DONT listen to all the BS about getting caught any other way. The county your hunting in is NOT going to go all CSI and do ballistic testing on your gun and the dead dog! So be smart IF YOU choose to kill them is my advice! thumbup

Who's fault is it? It is either the dogs fault or the dogs owners fault. Either way it's an irresponsible owner or a disobedient non cared for dog. May be doing them a favor by putting them down.

I dealt with this issue last year at our farm.. I watched the two dogs run into the bedding area in front of me and jump deer on several occasions. Then they would just play with each other out in the open. I couldn't bring myself to shoot a dog unless it was aggressive. I know how upset I would be if my dog got off on his own and someone shot him...

Im in 1 club thats on a dead end road. Its a common place to dumb dogs. Its not uncommon to all of a sudden see 5 dogs of different breeds just show up. I tell club members its up to you IF you want to kill them! I say = READY, AIM,.........

We have dogs all over our place. Never seem to bother the deer. I've had my neighbors dog standing in the field and dropped the hammer on a doe. We have had to take care of few. But they were wild and crossed the line.

It would depend on how the dog looks. If it looks healthy and like its not missing any meals then it is probably somebody's pet on a walk about. If its scraggly and skinny its probably going down.
Side note: One of the biggest deer I've ever seen came by me in 5th gear about 40 yards in front of a neighboring land owners bird dog a couple of years ago. Would have loved to shoot the deer but there's no way I would shoot one of her dogs.

The dogs we have to deal with are all dumped out and in poor shape. if people dont keep their dogs on THERE own property more often than not they will get shot. Some people just are not willing to tolerate dogs on there lease. I DONT blame people for shooting dogs 1 bit!!!! Its really easy to set back and tell others to = Just take them to the pound. But thats not realistic, when you have to catch them at take them across an entire county. I mean = who is really going to drive a mangy dog 45 mins from the rual woods to a shelter???

I know one thing for sure. You can't have dogs wondering around and otherwise piddling in your deer sanctuary. Cut em all jack.
