That's a hawthorn or haw of some variety (Crataegus). They're related to crabapples, in the rosaceae family. It looks like Crataegus uniflora to me.

You right. I change my answer. The leaves look a little off from a uniflora, but could be.

haven't checked the leaves but the fruiting structure looks similar to a variety of pommegranite?? Did you cut one open?
