Buddies got hit by lightening and blew a tire out and has a ringing with key out. Not even on. Pull battery cable and it stops. His efi fuse is hot and I can pull it and it stops too. What is it. Is it safe to try to crank. If not can we pull the efi fuze and try to crank it.

No way. Some Yotaphile will buy it.

I am willing to bet if you pull the fuse for the electronic fuel injection, it is probably not going to run.

You pull the fuel injection fuse it ain't gonna run, hit by lightening or not. No fuse, no fuel to the injectors.

I'd give it a good talking to, let it know it's a Toyota and to start acting like it. Then I'd drive it for the next 500,000 miles. I doubt you'd ever even have to put gas in it again.

Was an 03. Blew his mirror off fried the wiring and blew a tire. They got it on the school camera and sent it to either fix 6 or 33/40. Said you can put video in slow motion.

You got that right!

It shorted out the ecu. That's why the fuse is hot. Its shorted to ground and when you hook the cables up, it gets power. And since its shorted to ground, when you put power to it, it doesn't like it at all. Better unhook the battery cables in case it catches on fire. And find a new ecu

And after you do whatever to it, you NEVER take cover from a storm under a tree.

He shouldn't have parked it next to the tree with your gun in it. All that metal is a conductor!

Too bad he wasn't going 88 mph when the lightning hit...he'd have the 1.21 gigawatts needed for the flux capacitor to take him anywhere in time he wanted to go

Id search the junkyards for a ecu and give it a try. However there can very possibly be wiring burned and or shorted.
