Why is that opening day dove season starts at noon? Is just to avoid chaos if it were sunrise and everyone was scrambling for their spots?

Opened up at sunrise here in NC this past Saturday so it has to be a state thing. Im glad it wasn't noon here. Too much good football would've been missed waiting on a dove to commit suicide.

Our doves don't fly real well until 2-3PM anyway, so it makes no difference to me. But I'm not sure why the rule.

I hold my shooters off til 230. No need to be on the field at noon. May shoot a few early but they don't fly good til 3-5 usually unless it's cloudy. That's the only exception to hitting it at noon.

I was always taught that it wasn't proper to drink before noon.From what I have seen in the grocery business beer and opening day of dove season go hand in hand.We always make sure we have plenty of Viennas,potted meat,jerky,beenie weenies,saltines and beer,beer and more beer.I'm not saying everybody is that way but I have worked all over the state of Alabama for 34 years in the grocery business and opening morning of dove season is nothing but camo clad guys loading up on everything I just mentioned.We sell almost as much bag ice that day as we do on memorial day.

That's only for opening day in the north zone. The very next day you can hunt the am.
September 12 - November 15
September 12: 12 Oclock noon until Sunset (Afternoon Shooting Only)
September 13 - November 15: One-half hour before Sunrise until Sunset (All Day)

Another question kinda along the same scenario, is why on certain lakes can you only fish with 3 rods?? Used to crappie tournament fish and it drove us crazy looking at all the empty rod holders on Weiss and NH.. There is a limit to the fish, what does it matter if it takes 5 minutes to catch your limit or 10 hours?

I know, but why noon on opening day but AM all the other days? Some of the WMAs have it noon till Sunset every day. Deer, rabbit, squirrel, etc. don't start in the middle of opening day.
