I can't seem to get use to mine, and therefore don't wear it like I should.

Tonight I check into the Sleep Center at Huntsville Hospital. I've already come to grips with the fact I will become addicted to the hose as well.

I've had one for about 3 yrs now. At first I slept great and woke up with energy. Now just as tired as when I went to sleep but I've put on 30 pounds. CPAP does keep me from snoring. Can't sleep without it.

Had one for about 5 years. I want sleep without. I am thinking about the mouth piece. No hose would be great!

Been wearing one for almost 3 years. Cant get any decent sleep at all without it anymore. Wife says I need to go back and get the pressure adjusted again.
Yeah, well, I always heard there were three kinds of suns in Kansas: sunshine, sunflowers, and sons-of-bitches.

Got mine last September. Can't believe the change it has made in my life. More energy than I've had in years.

I have one, but can't go to sleep with the durn thing on my face. Wind up throwing it at the wall out of frustration.

I've had one about 3 years. Force myself to wear it about 90% of time. Hate it. Like sleeping with an octopus wrapped around my face. I can't tell any difference when I wear it, but it gives my wife a good nights sleep because I'm a heavy snorer without it

This is kind of an old thread, but I want to ask some opinions. For those of you who use the cpap regularly, how long does it take to start feeling the benefit? I am going to get mine tomorrow. I had the sleep studies and as soon as the Dr got the results, they told me to come in tomorrow morning.
Anyway, most days I wake up feeling worse than I did when I went to sleep. Something has to give. Soon.

Wife swears I need one cause I snore so bad but I can't make myself go to the sleep study thing.I snore really really bad after a night of drinking and she says sometimes I'll almost quit breathing and start like choking trying to catch my breath.

I think you'll feel it right away. I got mine a year ago and I've had more energy than I've had in years. If I remember right I started to feel the difference within a week. My preacher has one and he said "It's magic in the morning." I knew just what he meant and you will too.

PS if you think you need one, don't put it off. Go and get the study. There are much worse things to endure than to be hooked up to a few electrodes for one night. It could save your life.

The study was not as bad as I thought it would be. It took me a while to make myself do it, but it's gotten so bad lately. The constant fatigue is just too much.

my biggest issue was getting used to being "tethered" by something strapped to my face...still hate "my buddy", but know it works. ...had night sweats really bad (sign that your body is fighting for oxygen) and if i don't wear it for a few nights they come back and i feel worn out when i wake up.
experience is a freakin' awesome teacher....

I been using one for a few years now. I can't sleep without it!! And if i ever loose power at night it is extremely frustrating!! I have to use the full mask since I am a mouth breather. I tried the little nose peice ones a couple of times and I couldn't use them at all. I'm a quatro man, especially since i have facial hair!!

I just did my follow-up sleep study this past week, all hooked up to the cpap this time. I thought it would be pretty hard to get used to, but adjusted to it fairly quickly and slept well with it on. I'm normally a side sleeper, but the sleep therapist/tech (whatever they are) told me I slept on my back almost the entire night, with no snoring.
One thing I'll say though...I had the one that just covers your nose, and thought I was going to choke to death the first time I attempted to breathe through my mouth with the thing on. I woke up once or twice due to this in the night, but closing my mouth quickly solved the problem.
Just waiting on the doc to call with whatever prescription so I can get started.

Been on one since May. I now no longer suffer from afternoon fatigue here at work. In fact I rarely yawn anymore. I went with the full face mask. Since going on it, here are the results:
1. No more snoring. My wife slept in another bedroom because of the racket.
2. According to the sleep study, I was waking up every two minutes because I would stop breathing. Thus the afternoon fatigue.
3. Lower blood pressure.
4. No more night sweats. I would sweat so much in bed, I had to change the sheets daily.
5. No more waking up and having to go to the bathroom.
