Drove up to Winfield today because i will be spraying some areas for fall planting. Of course, very excited to check the cameras and my soybean plots. Was hesitant to plant the soybeans because the total area planted would be about 1 acre and the fear would be they would be gone before they were 6 inches tall. Went ahead and planted, put out a couple bags of Milorganite to keep the deer out for a few weeks. Reapplied a half bag per plot a month later. Now, about two months after planting i am very happy with the results. Deer are all over them, but some are about waist high and blooming. I wanted to buy the PlotSaver system, but never worked out. Instead, used Christmas ribbon from Hobby Lobby, some white string, and 8 metal posts. Built the little fence shown below, even though it only a couple hundred square feet. It was just a test to see if deer would stay out with no repellent, no electricity, two very short fences at different heights, and with easier to access beans nearby. Seems to be working as i do not see a bit of browsing within the fence. I am surprised the fence has not started to sag with it being in the elements. If the beans within the fence produce pods, i may take down one side of the fence a few days before bow season. I was only able to fertilize one part of the plot and you can really tell the difference. For my first attempt and not much of a budget i am very happy.
I'm amazed that a double ribbon fence is keeping them out of the beans. Those beans look great. Good job.

Nice work how'd the trail cam pics look? Whats the deer density like out there?
Have not sorted through all the videos yet, but this one did catch my eye. On this trip I set one of the cameras on Time-Lapse mode and have it overlooking the field from the tree i'll be hunting from. Can't wait to see the results from it in a few weeks.
Can't tell you much about deer density, but this is Marion county so fairly average i would suppose.
