Hmmm! But that brand new Browning or UA camo looks sooo dang good on me. I use brand name washing detergents with no dyes, no perfumes and no UV brighteners, etc... but I still worry about UV brighteners that's still there from the manufacturer.
I too have had deer look up at me at 25' in a tree and stare and I haven't moved. It has to be UV brighteners getting their attention.
I see it (no pun intended) this way... I like to see turkeys too when I hunt and it's hard to fool them as their eyes are full of cones. I'll continue to buy camo but I'll make sure to pay attention to UV issues and address that. hmmm....ever think you might have been skylined???

I've killed a majority of my deer wearing atleast some non camo clothing. Camo does not matter. Plain and simple. I almost never get picked off when I'm in a tree or blind. Heck I even sit in a chair in roadbeds and don't get picked off. Background cover and movement is what keeps you from being seen My experience as well. Movement and skylining is a no no.

I caught on to UV years ago when I was sitting on the ground an hour before daylight with a bright full moon above. The Lee camo jeans I was wearing were lit up like a candle, while the camo sweatshirt I was wearing was black as the ace of spades. (correct me if I'm wrong, but the moon only reflects UV light?) Any way, I was busted enough times that I started checking my clothes with a black light. If I buy some camo and it glows under a black light when I get home, it goes back to the store.
The only time it matters though is during low light conditions (dawn, dusk, and dreary overcast conditions)
Hunter orange does not matter, IF the garment does not glow. The problem is most hunter orange is treated to make it glow so it can be seen better. Check out the hat I'm wearing in this photo.. it does not glow. I shot this doe while standing on the ground 15 feet from her. She never saw me.
Since you asked ... I believe you are wrong. The light reflected from the moon is visible "white" light with the primary peak being around 640 nm, which is on the red side of the visible spectrum. The spectra I have seen does contain some UV, but not a whole lot.

wash regular clothes in unscented detergent. save your money for the best optics you can possibly afford. buy more ammo and find the "sweet" cartridge your gun likes. sit as still as possible. kill deer

You are correct.. and I am wrong. If the moon only reflected UV light we wouldn't be able to see it at all. Turns out the moon reflects visible light twice as well as it does UV light. Since us humanerds can't see well at night, I believe my UV reflecting camo jeans were lit up in the moonlight because the UV that was reflected from that super-bright moon (although minimal) lit them up enough to be visible.
