I used it for the bowties on my truck. Did 5 coats and its been on there for about 5 months. Still no sign of peeling/bubbling.

I dont know why I got the air bubble?? Bout the size of a quarter. I cleaned the wheels like your suppost too. I also put on 5 coats. Im not going to mess with it untill it cracks or peels off. Only I can really see it and know its there.

Put clear coat over it after you get finished and it won't come off. But DO NOT spray the clear coat close to the Plastic Dip sprayed area because it will make it look white. Hold it about 3-4ft back and it will help the plastic dip not come off, otherwise it's going to come off sometimes fast, sometimes slow, and I have seen some come off all at once.

Fellars- how did you treat/clean the wheels first. I want to do this to my 4-wheeler wheels. but they have some areas of very, very minor rust. Should I brush them with a wire wheel or just clean chemically and spray on the plasti-dip?

Clearcoat isn't going to keep any base from coming off if the base isn't laid down correctly and adhered properly, especially something that is designed to be removed if wanted. The clearcoat will add a layer of protection against chips and scrapes but it isn't going to affect the adhesion of the base. The clearcoat adds an extra layer and may give the impression that the finish is "tougher" but if the part isn't prepped and sprayed correctly the base will come off and the clear is coming with it. It may take a little longer but the clear won't "hold" it on.

I would wire brush them with a brass brush. Then wash with soap and water. Then clean with break cleaner or something like that. Once they are 100% dry start with the plasti dip. Light coat first then start over and continue until you are through at least 2 cans for all 4 wheels.
