Update:

So far, PT pretty much sucks. The knee is tight and hurts when I bend it much. The immobilizer that I have to wear is uncomfortable and is generally a pain in the butt. But, I am seeing some progress with mobility in the knee. I have been able to work through the pt without narcotics so far. It sucks, but it's doable.

The surgeon is obviously smarter than me but he also gets paid every time that scapel comes out.

I tore my ACL and MCL about 4 years ago. The ortho Dr and I opted to wait it out instead of tearing into it. I still have pain here and there but over the last year its really gotten better. Im glad I didnt let then cut on me now. What really helped me at the time and I still use it when needed was one of the GOOD knee braces from the ortho Doc. Not the crap you buy in a store. It has the hinged steel on the sides for lateral support. If you will get it and WEAR it, it will make a huge difference.

PT is the critical phase to get the best recovery - not just for the two months you do it at the PT clinic but also the 6 months to a year thereafter. Follow their instructions to the letter and don't do anything you are not supposed to do.

Get an exercise bike and once you start doing the bike at the PT clinic double down on that at home for the next 12 months for the best result.

Good luck!
