One of the biggest mistakes I see is painting the nose black instead of fleshy pink. They are not black. They're a pink flesh tone.

Looks good Matt! thumbup Post the pics when it's finished.

Reading all the comments here, I got up twice and walked over to look at mine on the wall. Now my wiener dog is all nervous! grin

Here's a pic of one my taxidermist was doing a couple of years back. I think he does outstanding work.

Matt, I'm glad to finally see a good looking cat mount posted on Aldeer.

Most of them look like they've been hit in the head with a shovel.

I have yet to figure out why most taxidermists pull the skin too tight on the heads. They don't have to do it that way.

I'm not trying to brag, but when I did taxidermy I was very good at mounting cats. If I had known then, what I know now, I would have continued to do that line of work. I might have been able to make a good living mounting nothing but deer and cats. I wish I had pictures of some that I mounted.

Matt, if you don't care, ask him why he used round pupil eyes.

He used to keep bobcats. He's trapped them, and at one time I believe he was the president of the AL fur trapper association. He don't like eliptical eyes. Google 100 images of bobcats, closeup, and you'll quickly see they have round pupils, especially when they are dilated. When they contract, they are still just ever so slightly eliptical, another thing that is wrong with a lot of bobcat eyes. The cat eye manufacturers grossly exaggerate how eliptical cat eyes truly are.

The face is what makes or breaks a bobcat, and the small things like the correct eyes and not plumping the lips too much just make them pop. Like Matt said, unless their eyes are contracted they are round. It will be an awesome looking mount, and even cooler that you had pictures before and then trapped it.

Good pictures. I knew they are round depending on the amount of light, you just don't see it much on mounted ones.

No. They wouldn't give that one back to me!

Wish they would have. It weighed over 40 lbs.

Looks great!!!

Cats are difficult to mount correctly for a lot of taxidermist.

God Bless,

Good looking cat. You see more bad cat mounts than any other animal.
