I know there are a whole lot of patented wheat varieties. I've heard the bit about it being illegal to plant feed wheat. I've planted it in the past. I have heard the line about it being illegal many times at our local co-op. They are serious enough about it that they don't even sell feed wheat anymore. They haven't sold any in years. They keep a real cheap seed variety instead, which is actually better because it doesn't have wild mustard seed in it. Yes, he was saying he tends to let his feed wheat supply run dry about the time folks would be buying it for planting.
