Thanks, Huntinman. I actually did a little research last night after posting. I think I've been calling Garden Spiders Banana Spiders for a long time. I guess I'm never too old to learn something. I still call them Banana spiders though...

Thanks, Huntinman. I actually did a little research last night after posting. I think I've been calling Garden Spiders Banana Spiders for a long time. I guess I'm never too old to learn something. I still call them Banana spiders though... I've wonder the same thing and I just always called them banana spiders to.

Is the garden spider and the banana spider the same creature? I always heard them called Banana spiders. I used to put my son on the front of the four wheeler when clear them out when he was little. He finally decided he wanted to ride in the back.

Garden spider... always been told they're harmless, but I've never tried to make it bite me either! Doubt they're venomous, but I still don't want it on me. I'd imagine a spider that big would bite if you tried to hold it in your hand or something.
It's those dadgum orange/red/brown spiders that you walk into during bow season that make me turn inside out!!! Again, I think they're harmless, but they make me harm myself!
