I have always wanted to float the Perdido River. It's the one that delineates the line between Baldwin county AL and Escambia county FL. There is a place on Phillipsville Rd where Dyas Creek crosses that would put you out into the Perdido about where the N end of the WMA starts. You could float to the WMA takeout (several options) or where the road has a bridge in between 112 in AL and Barrineau Park in FL or all the way to Hwy 90.

From the bridge at BP on down, it looks pretty wide open and pretty, thought there might be some shallow portages. It's the part at the N end that concerns me. LOTS of places that could have blow downs all the way across which might be all but impassable if you didn't have a chain saw with you.

I used to canoe the perdido a lot. A lot of logjams north of what is now the management area. Nothing that I couldn't pull through though. It was all ip land back then. Very few people on that part. A few places on the Florida side with public access in that area. We would take out at the bridge off 112. This has been 20 years ago since I have been through there on a canoe though.

If you took out at the Barrineau Park bridge where did you put in? There is SUPPOSED to be a place on the FL side about 1/2 way between the bridge and where Dyas creek runs in called Three Runs. You can allegedly drive to it from Walnut Hill.

We put in on what was called river road at that time. It was off 112 just north of where the management area is now I believe. It was ip land but was basically public access. There was a canoe rental place at the bridge where we took out. I believe it was all on the Florida side at that point.

I do remember a large place on the Florida side about half way between where we put in and took out that people could drive to. It was quite the drunken party area. It was probably closer to where we put in because it was across from where the management area is now. I would sometimes camp on the alabama side across from it during hunting season. I have some old maps around somewhere from when it was permit hunting land.

I saw a Wild Airplane up in there years ago.

I don't know how well this will show up, but we put in near the top of the blue shaded area on the right and took out just off the map in the bottom right corner.
