Hey does anyone own one of these? It is chambered in 22 mag. I looking for a home protection "noise maker" that my non-hunting wife would use. She did not grow up around guns and has never shot a handgun. She has no interest in hunting or guns but is willing to learn to be secure when I am at work. I want something for her that goes bang when she squeezes the trigger.

You don't really get a lot more energy out of a 22mag vs 22LR until you get into rifle barrels. You do get a lot more muzzle blast. I'd stick with a quality 22LR

Not trying to derail you, but if you have acess to a 4 or 6" k frame 38, let her shoot it. It would be very mild recoil, especially with standard loads, and much more effective than a .22.

However, any gun is better than no gun. If she just can't use anything bigger than a 22, go with it.

Don't be afraid of the damage done by a .22. The slaughter house here drops 2k lb Bulls with one. I have killed more stuff than I care to admit with one also. I promise you a .22 hollow point in center mass will stop an intruder.

Definetly stick with the 22 to start with. You can go up but you can't go back if she pulls the trigger on the 38 and gets scared and gun shy.
