Put in up river at Kelly Creek 10:30am. It was red so we eased out to the main lake. The water was stained and 47 decrease. 3 turbines on. It was slow at first but after we got down around the old glovers point ramp we started to get bite. boated 7 good spots in the 2 to 2.5 pound range. Lost a 3 pounder trying to throw him in the boat and missed a couple more. Fish were bunched in small groups of 2 or 3 and wouldn't hit anything I tried except a tri-colored 1/2 oz jig with a black pork trailer. I tried lizards, worms, and tubs.Took out at 3:30pm

The one on the left looks more like 3.5lbs at least. I haven't been that far up the lake yet. Nice fish!

I had them pushed out a little more then I should. They were sure fat. One coughed up a hugh green crawl dad pincher. How did ya'll do Saturday?

Fortunately, I wasn't out there Saturday! I suffered through the cold wet rain last Saturday. Kendall and Jyoung had tournies on Lay this Saturday. Can't wait to hear how they did....

We had close to (10) folks fishing the BFL on the Big G Saturday. No one scared the top 20.

I have a friend that fished all day Friday on Guntersville. Got one bite. I dont know how those guys do it up there.

Well guys didn't do so well. It was raining when I got up at 4:00 and did not stop the entire day. I went down the lake had to fish by myself, partner couln't make it. Fished hard, had a decent practice Fri but could not make it happen Sat. Had one 3 pounder large head. Lost one about 6 or 7. That pretty much ruined my day. Caught 2 short fish but could not make it happen, I tried everything just wasn't my day, I guess I should have went up river

hey stripe I know I guy that fished up at the Big G Sat. He was a co angler and the guy he drew with had been up there since monday. Check this out he said when he got in the boat Sat morning he pulled out one rod with a red rattle trap. He said he caught about 15 keepers all day and ended up with 21 or 22 pounds!!! My buddy had one keeper, I can't believe that. There were some fish caught he said there was a 12lb weighed in He said it was a monster.

Thats a good bait on the Big G in pre spawn conditions but you still got to know where to throw it. With 69,000 acres its always been tough up there on me. Sorry about Lay. I have a couple of buddies that always do good on Lay. They live and die shaking a jig. Don't always win but they get big bites and can make the money most days. Personally I like it up river this time of year right thru the LM spawn. I've fished it 1000 times over the last 20 years and can usually find some 3 to 4 pound spots as long as the water is moving. After the LM come off bed forget it. The big fish get in the grass on the lower end and the locals will beat your brains out with them.

Our club tourney was the 25th out of Beezwax. there were several boats there despite the rain, the parking lot was full and they were parking out the road toward hwy 145. I fished with my son, we did not do well, we had 3 fish for 6.5lbs. It took 16.90 to win with 14.84 taking second place. We should have went up river it looks like you had a lot better day than we did. The L&L tournament weighed in at the same time we did, but I didn't hear what it took to win it.

As soon as my rainsuit drys out I am burning it. I would have done better wihtout it on.


On the bright side, I did catch a 18lb 10oz stripe that day, it hit a rattle trap first thing in the morning, it wouldn't fit in the livewell or I would have brought it to the weigh in.

What where the winners doing? Flipping grass for LM or catching spots?


I thought about coming down there for yall's weigh-in. I had enough of the cold rain the weekend before to last me for a while! LOL!!!

I don't know how they caught those fish, and they weren't talking. I think they were all spots, and if I had to guess, they came from above the 280 bridge.

What does yall's tourney schedule look like? I was wondering if there was any over lap for prefishing purposes. Ours is on our web site.

We fish night tournaments during the hottest parts of summer, and the year will start over again in October with everyone voting on where to fish. We fish one tournament every month.

March on Logan Martin should be good. I'm a big fan of the Warrior River...... IN THE DAY!! I ran it enough at night in high school to last me several lifetimes.

I was fishing the L and L trail, like I said I did not do so well, I had one 3 pounder and I tried everything! Anyway I found out the results.

22lb was first then it went 20,18,18,17,17,16lb!!!! Can you believe that, that is crazy it will make want to sell all your stuff after having a day like mine where I caught too fish and got 4 bites! I talked to one guy and he said they had 15lb and did not even get a check and they paid 6 places
