Plasti Dip? Anyone ever use it???? Its basicly black rubber that comes out of a spray can. Its like a cheap method to = Dip Wheels. Lots of shops + Dip Chromo wheels to make them Black. I just bought a 2000 Toyota 4 Runner 4x4 with 166k miles on it. Its white and I want Blacked out wheels. I already put the 2 inch lift on it AND 32 inch tires. I may put BLACK TRD Toyota FJ wheels on it, IF the black dip dont work!

Many times...it's good stuff for wheels and things that don't receive direct contact. If it's a moving part that gets touched or rubbed it will come off.

I just wanted to see IF I liked the Black tire , Black wheel look with the lift kit and no running boards on the 4runner. Before I invest 600-700 dollars in a set of TRD FJ Crusier wheels! I only got 2 wheels done. Its raining no and lightning . I will start again 2morrow. I put 5 coats on each wheel.

More coats the better...it peels off better should you decide to remove it the thicker it is.

How does it stand up to weather?? Can you wash it? I got 5 coats on it .I wonder if it gets mud on it AND i wash it off will I have to re-paint it?

  Here's my '12 taco with it done. Took about 45 min. I placed notecards between the wheel and rim all the way around it. Hit it with a little prep spray let that dry then started spraying. Go light at first to where it's just dusted and barely can tell it's on there. And just keep doing coat after coat and it will then out very well. I've had mine done close to 6 months now and no problems with peeling or anything and I take this truck to the club all the time and go straight to the car wash to hose off the undercarriage and body when I get back. I bought 8 cans. Only needed 5.

That looks good!!! I took my tire off. Taped it up with painters tape and duct tape. I went light the first time, then waited 15 mins and repeated. Total of 5 coats. Took almost a full can. I gave about 6 dollars a can. I got 4 cans at Lowes. I will HOPEFULLY finish up tommorrow IF it doesnt rain

Got up at daylight and finished painting the other 2 wheels on my 4runner. IF the rain and lightning wouldnt have stopped me, I would have finished last night. Im wondering about painting the body of a truck with this stuff?? I wonder if it would stick on the fender flare part of a Toyota 4runner?

People paint while cars with them. Heres a more econimical way other than spray cans: https://www.dipyourcar.com/Its a big fad right now, theres all kinds of colors, additives, pearls, metal flakes, etc, etc... Lots of folks painting very high end cars just for something different and to protect the paint. It peels right off when youre ready but otherwise handles washing and stays clean just fine. Theres tons of videos on youtube of the painting process and removing it.

I saw that the other nite. Looks good. I saw on-line a place in Huntsville that does = Plastic Dipped Wheels and Body Trim Paint. I may try the Plasti Dip on the fenders, too see IF I like the look on my white 4runner. If I dont I can peel it off like you said. IF I really like it, I my see what a Body Shop will charge me to paint them. I looked at Fender Flares = Bushwacker and ebay ofter run about 4oo dollars a set.

I did the spare the other night on my Jeep to see if I liked the black wheels. I didn't clean the wheels very well, so I have a few spots that bubbled and/or didn't adhere well. I like the way it looks, but I basically wasted most of 1 can since I didn't prep the wheel correctly. I'll probably do all 5 once I get some new tires put on.

I did the same thing on 1 wheel. No prep just sprayed. I peeled it off in 1 sheet. After that I clean with a towel first, then used cleaner, let it dry, then wiped it off again . With a clean wheel it looked better up close!

So, on metal you don't have to use a primer to get it to stick and not peel off? I used some of it on a cheap, plastic gun stock and it didnt last anytime until it peeled off. Seems like I saw somewhere after that incident that they sell a primer too. I've got a rifle stock I would like to do in that stuff but dont want to waste my time again.

The instructions didnt say anything about primer. You just clean them with alcohol or wheel cleaner. Let it dry and paint. I bought this stuff at Lowes in Gadsden. Its in the paint section. 5.88 a can. Can is Blue and black top. Called= Plasti Dip !

It may not stick well to plastic? I can get my fender flares painted for 150-200 dollars at paint shop. I just painted wheels with this stuff to SEE how it would look and to SEE if I would like it. I have ordered som Black TRD Toyota FJ Crusier wheels to go on it. So my rubber painted wheels will be tempory

I have had the wheels on my truck done for over a year. I used two full cans on all four wheels. It has been in mud and done fine. I use a scrub brush and they clean right up. I did the ones on my ATV and it lasted through mud holes that were taillight deep. I ride a Can Am on 30'' tires... The mud holes i ride in are about waist deep. It will stick fine to plastic. its all about the prep work.

Looks good. I had to do 1 wheel again. Looks like I got an Air bubble between the wheel and center cap.
