I have been deer hunting in Alabama for about 30 years and never came across a snake during deer season. Has anyone ever came across any snakes in the woods during gun season in Alabama?

Yep. Saw several during bow season and almost stepped on a Pygmy Rattlesnake, late into November, in Barbour County.

Mid January, a few years ago, I found myself sharing a shooting house with a rattler (it was nearly 70 for the high that day). Needless to say, I vacated the shooting house quickly!!!

Same here. I killed a very active and pissed off cottonmouth in the middle of January with ice still on the ground.

I killed a rattler in the snow in north Tuscaloosa county in 2003. He was trying to cross a paved road.

Killed a water mocassin in Aliceville several years ago swimming past me as I was dragging a deer from a beaver dam swamp. Had a buddy with me to back me up as telling the truth.

About stepped on a big ole water moccasin the week of Christmas in the TNF. I mean a BIG OLE FATTY!!! Had to cross a little creek and walk down the other side to get to the truck. If he hadnt slid off into the water I'd a stepped right on him. Last thing on my mind. Cold morning but was warming up at lunch time.

Plenty down here. Moccasins mostly in swampy areas but see a diamond back every now and then in winter.

Had a buddy get bit New Year's Day back in the early 90's.
I've seen lots of them in early turkey season when it's still cold, but none hardly during rifle season.

I don't ever see anything but king snakes on our lease. In 5 years of having it there hasn't been a single venomous snake killed on the place, but so this summer I've killed 2 cotton mouths, a rattle snake, and a copper head on the road near my camp

Lots of rattlesnakes and copperheads in bow season, saw a rattlesnake in Barbour Co in January two seasons ago (temp was 50's though), but I'm not sure I've seen poisonous snakes during Spring turkey season oddly enough.
