I have a Sendero in .300 RUM with a Jewell trigger in it and it is a tack driver.

Mine is my favorite deer rifle that I own.

One of the best factory rifles I ever owned was a 90s Model Rem 700 Sendero in 7mm. I put over 2500 rds down the barrel and up untill the end it held 1/2 MOA accuracy. I REALLY abused this rifle AND the last 200 rds it open -up to 1 MOA groups then I sold it at Pawn Shop! thumbup

Thanks for the comments. I'm really leaning towards the 7mm. Now I just need to decide on the scope.

I traded for a Sendero in 300 Win mag with plans to keep the VXIII scope on it and sell the gun; until I took it to the range.
Never shot a 300WM before; so I took it out with some of that fancy 150g CoreLokt ammo I got with it. Thought I completely missed the paper with second shot; wrong, same hole. Next one right next to it. I was pissed; hard to sell a 1/2" gun.
The .223 VSSF that I shoot 100BR with is the same.
Great pair, said the Bear.

I like the Sendero. Had one in 7 mag and it shot great. Sub MOA Gun @ 100yds. Sold it to buy a .30-378 but wish I still had it. Real good gun for a hunting rifle. I replaced it with a Savage HBAR for my bean field gun and got no complaints about the Savage either.

I'd get it in 7 Mag.

What's a good scope to compliment this rifle in 7mm?

Deer hunt and try to learn to shoot further on paper. Do any of you have any experience with vortex viper pst 6-24x50 scopes? The pro's and cons? Blue collar worker here. Lol.

I personally would not get a target scope for deer hunting. I might get one to mess around with shooting 800+ yards during the summer. If that was the plan, I'd set the rifle up so you can change the scope easily with picatinny or weaver style bases.

Under the following methodology your buddies will be far less impressed without the claims of capability in shooting monster bucks at a mile. But then you'd likely also run across a guy like me who'd look at your rifle and figure you knew what you were doing and not assume you are just another mall ninja with a scope they don't know how to use:

Initially if a fella were going with 7 Mag and setting it up for hunting AND actually was hunting a place where they can shoot 500-600 yards.... then a quality scope with a ballistic reticle is my preferred setup. This is much faster than messing around tying to get the correct dope dialed in when a buck is chasing a doe across a hay field or power line. Something like a 3-15x or 4.5-14x or less is all you need. 50-56mm objective on this style rifle since weight is no longer a factor. Don't fall victim to believing you need 20x to shoot distance. You don't. I've got the ranges of various objects written on the wall next to the windows of all my shooting houses or a notepad next to me if I am on the ground or at a buddy's place. No time is spent fumbling around with a range finder and then adjusting turrets then possibly the magnification in the case you have too much and can't find the deer in the scope. That is a fool's game in my opinion in a deer stand. It only took one 150+ inch deer at a trot for me to figure that out 20 years ago. Have several target scopes, but none on my deer rifles.

So in my opinon you got a lot of scope options.
