I wouldnt go all crazy with the runnin & gunnin tactics. Play it cool. Set up where you feel comfortable. Nestle in and be patient. Cover your self up in leaves while scratching in the leaves like turkey do. Its just like calling. How many times have you heard of people moving too early and spooking birds when they got up? More times than not the Tom was there they just werent patient enough. Scratch, soft call, then scratch more, and WAIT! Its been working for us and I hope it works for you.
OR..you could do this^^^^ lay there covered with leaves like Rambo...scratching (from the dang chiggers Id guess) and soft calling...( for help I guess too) and hope one comes along...then like whild Bill..just reach out and SNATCH him by the neck and shake him until hes dead.
Of course...check his spurs and age him by his teeth BEFORE you snatch and shake
