I've heard similar stories regarding the turkeys in Coosa Co. Not sure if I believe it or not; it could just be the normal variations in size that any species is gonna show.
One of the oldest gobblers I ever killed weighed 14 pounds, but spurs were very long and curved, and he was on public land and had a "reputation". But I also killed an old bird in Perry Co that weighed just 15, and I think he was just a normal turkey on the way down.
I haven't noticed any gobblers turning down a hen because she is from a more recent stocking, so I doubt that there really is much difference in AL turkeys, other what is just normal from one individual to the next. I could be wrong. Definitely a big difference in the leg length of those 2!
