Hey guys, I need some advice on a good revolver for the wife. She has a 380 in a slide right now but she is a little uncomfortable with the action.. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

can't go wrong with a hammerless lady smith.

I bought my wife an Airweight hammerless S&W .38 a few years ago and she loves it. She is an assistant DA and shoots with the sheriffs department pretty frequently. She qualified on their course shooting that pistol.

I got my wife a Ruger SP101 in .327 magnum. She likes the balance, the recoil, and not only does she like to shoot it, she's a scary good shot with it.

I wouldn't get an airweight unless she is very comfortable with recoil. An airweight is a handful, especially with +p ammo. If she carries on body, a 2" steel Jframe would be it. More likely, I'd go with a model 640 and standard 158gr 38spl ammo. http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/wcs/s...playErrorView_Y

Bought my wife a rossi 38+p many years ago. She likes it, I like it and it shoots great. It's not an air weight which helps with recoil. Believe I paid $289 or something less than $300 at Academy.
P&Y the way the Rossi brand is made by Taurus and I've compared hers to the same Taurus model and they are identical. It's the same gun.

Airweight with +P will put a beating on you, but it's easy to carry and damn near fool proof to make it go boom.

A Lady Smith with the skinny wood handles will beat the crap out of your hand! The Ruger LCR has a better trigger than the S&W or Rossi, put as many in her hand as possible, a laser is not a bad idea IMO.

My 642 air weight is not bad at all to shoot. I wouldn't hesitate to give my wife one. Actually, I did.

My wife shoots my airweight well also. She doesn't shoot much either but the recoil doesn't bother her. Never bothered me either. She doesn't carry much but either takes mine or her Taurus 85 revolver. It's a little heavier and has an exposed hammer.

An airweight is a handful with +p ammo. This is true and I don't shoot +P ammo in mine but the Airweight comes in models with different grips. The rubber grip that covers the backstrap is probably the best for women. It is also a longer grip with enough area for the pinky. That grip is also available from LaserGrip

My only complaint is the clear finish has flaked off on a lot of the frame and makes it look rough but it doesn't really bother me. I may try to buff it all off one day.

S&W 642 like others have said, or a Ruger LCR. Can't go wrong with either one.

Mine has also, but its my fault. I let it get wet in a backpack on a camping trip and didn't realize it. It stayed in a wet holster for a couple days. I took the side plate off and cleaned all the internals. I'm gonna have it ceracoated one of these days.
