I'm thinking about purchasing one or the other. Does anyone have thoughts on either? Does anyone hunt with a Mini?

Hunt what? Minis are great but not typically accurate. 3-4 MOA is GOOD! Close shots on pigs maybe ok, not my preferred deer rifle but fun and reliable to plink. Save your money and build or buy an AR, IMHO.

I'm not sure why they still make them when you can buy an AR.

I'm not sure why they still make them when you can buy an AR. Probably cause there is just something good ole boys like about the Garand style action of the Minis.

I have had one of each. The 14 I never used for hunting, just plinking. The 30 I have carried a few times for hogs. Its open sighted and I only carry it where the max shot is under 50 yards and a quick follow up might be needed. I use the Wolf SP in it. Both are 2-3 moa guns. Could have gotten a AR for what I have in them but just not into AR's.

I deer hunted with a Mini-30 a few years back when they first came out. Thought it was too loud for my taste, safety, action, etc. Never really fell in love with it.
I hear the new ones are more accurate. It will kill a deer/hog no problem. Bout like a 30-30. In the woods it is all you need.

If I wanted accuracy w would go with a bolt action. If I wanted rapid fire capabilities Id get an AR
Two roads diverged in the woods and I took the one with deep ruts, hills and mud.It may be bumpy but WHAT A RIDE!

the mini's are pretty light and easy to carry. mini 30 would be much better for hunting than an ar.
