You realize Auburn spent like 85 million on a new arena? They also hired Pearl. I would say Auburn stepped up the commitment. Florida sucked in hoops and Spurrier was running roughshod when Donovan came in and turned it into a championship team.
There's not a single (publicly known) reason why Marshall or some other coach couldn't do it at Alabama. They have the financial resources to dedicate, if they're truly desirous of a top-caliber team, and no doubt would do whatever is needed.
I suspect there are some boosters who don't give two chits about hoops just like at Auburn, though. They only care about two things -- football and football money -- and everything else is just effluvia, which is pretty damned sad. Maybe this will be the time Alabama hires a top coach, makes a true commitment to back up its oft-stated proclamations and ends up with a quality hoops team.
If not, they should just effin' quit playing basketball instead of pretending. Auburn, too.
Since the Auburn arena opened, Auburn has the following records in Mens Hoops. 12-23 15-16 9-23 14-16 15-20 Total 65 - 96 Not bashing because Alabama has sucked just as bad over that same timeframe. My point is that neither one of them have stepped up for jack squat. I give Auburn credit for making a big splashy hire with Pearl and I have no doubt he will improve their basketball program. I just don't think he's going to improve it as much as people think. I don't know if anyone can help Alabama or Auburn basketball to tell you the truth.

Yes, Burbank, I realize the cost of the new arena and that they hired Pearl.
Auburn finally has done what it claims to pursue - championships and excellence. The new arena (and rec center) is outstanding.
Now it's time for Alabama, with all it's vaunted huffing and puffing about championships and demanding excellence and blahblahblah, to get it done or STFU about it.

I was too scared to look it up on a company computer. My 2nd cousin Harold uses that word a lot but he's a vaginacologist so I figure he's required to know what it is.

It's going to be very difficult to say the least for Bama to hire him away. Y'all remember that Wichita State has two of the wealthiest men in America as alum nest. The Koch brothers. I'm Sure Marshall has his own Lear jet that he doesn't share with the football coach.
