Tulsa Welding School the best in the country. Learn to weld pipe and in about 10 yrs go after your Cwi. Or have him look up Global Technology in Decatur, Al even after he learns to weld he will need to get in a pipe shop and get around some good welders that can really teach him the trade the money is in pipe welding

Wallace community college in Dothan. They just built a new training center last year and it is one of the best in the state. I inspected it a few months ago for insurance purposes and at one time I was a certified fitter and welder so I was very impressed with this facility and I highly recommend y'all check it out. It's a great trade your son is looking into. Good luck to him.

Might check the AIDT or AWTC to see what they are offering. Also look at Shelby County College and Career Center. Main thing is to see if he likes it. As others have said, if he is going to make a career of it, he needs to work with a mentor on the job that can give him real training.
